what was the website to go to for multiple uploads...turns it into a gallery? - drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -8/+123My favourite:
The connection has timed out.
The server at www.365questions.org is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
though it's the only one I'm seeing... - arcooke, on 10/10/2007, -9/+112This is my all time favorite. Of course it's not real, but still funny. http://i11.tinypic.com/52kmyzc.png
- fpcyber, on 10/10/2007, -2/+69"An error occurred while displaying the previous error" That one made my day.
- Topher06, on 10/10/2007, -0/+54Gee, I still miss the sad face on a Mac that meant "Your system is hosed". Apple is the king of understatement, making a critical system failure cute.
- Niubai, on 10/10/2007, -6/+50"Error: Keyboard not found. Please press any key to resume" This one is the best
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -3/+45I thought a 404 error was not OS dependant...
- lsfloyd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+44My favorite is "An unexpected error has occurred" My feeling is, if it were an expected error, it could have been prevented.
- loconet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31I don't remember the last time I was able to click on a link on digg and actually see the original article posted. It seems like I come to digg for my daily dose of web server error messages and retarded comments (possibly like mine).
- FearlessFreep, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30At that point you were probably willing to click "Yes"
- plundstedt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25That's funny, because duggmirror didn't catch it.
- rnawky, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Mirror: http://s3.amazonaws.com/rnawky/Digg/Best_windows_error_messages/Best_windows_error_messages.html
I was able to get some but not all, Ill try to get the rest up. - jcastillo81, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21When I got my first computer as a young lad, my Mom thought the message "you have performed an illegal operation" meant that she broke the law. Seriously.
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18What's funny or weird about that?
- rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Who the hell is this general Failure and Why is he reading my hard Drive?????
- devate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17How to never see this error: SHIFT + Delete.
- greenjelly01, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19those are not "windows" error messages.
Those are errors in idiotic apps that run on windows. - K3ITHK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I like the errors that had the little bombs.
http://www.miguelcarrasco.net/miguelcarrasco/WindowsLiveWriter/AppleCrashTop10Images_12FAA/bomb_s%5B2%5D.jpg - cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Except that you can't hotplug a PS/2 keyboard.
- Courthold, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Whoops.. minus the ")" - http://www.windowscrash.com/albums/error_messages/catastrophic_failure.jpg
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17This is a total nerd ass response but programs are written to handle certain errors and continue. An "unexpected error" refers to one that the program does not have a way to deal with, so it terminates. I'm going to digg myself down now.
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18You are in high school and use MySpace. It's the only way you would expect a critical error to kill a computer.
- BrainCoder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Actually, Windows before deleting a file sends it to the Recicle Byn. It can be possible so that the file was being stored in the RB but there wasn't enough space to contain both the "original" file ( before being totally moved in the RB ) and the parts being copied to the RB...anyway is not easy to get that error.
- tocleora, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14it's "oo".
- ORBAT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13 Which is a BIOS error, not Windows
- theholycow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13http://www.getdigital.de/images/produkte/t2/t2_anykey.jpg
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Any key? Where's the any key? I see Esca, Del and Caturl...
- psykiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Reminds me of that time back in middle school that I was doing a presentation and windows 98 came out with "Illegal Operation" and the entire class went "oohh... you're in trouble".
I lost faith in humanity and died a little inside that day :( - jbreiding, on 10/26/2009, -1/+12How about ERROR_SUCCESS?
- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11A buddy of mine got the standard "Windows has shut down this program to prevent damage to your hard drive" error. The program Windows shut down was Windows Explorer.
- Godlike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yes, there is such a thing as a 'good' error. Computers are not infallible as they are created by humans who as we all know are generally dumber than hell. A 'good' error message contains relevant data and suggests possible solutions and causes. A bad one simply tells you that some type of error occurred or that otherwise the program cannot proceed.
Trust me, a 'bad' error message can make your life hell trying to track down the source. - asdfrewq, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I always believed it was in the pronunciation. For example, unicorn. It just sounds plain wrong to say: "Yesterday, I saw an unicorn and it had a giant penis instead of a horn." Whereas "Yesterday, I saw a unicorn and it was frolicking merrily in the garden" sounds much better. Think about it. ;)
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Uh... deleted files go in the trash and if you empty the trash normally, and not perform a secure delete, it remains on the disk just like windows.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -8/+18This one happened to me when I tried to empty an already empty recycle bin:
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z273/nsmike44/deletewindows.jpg - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Because any idiot should be able to check duggmirror before posting the link.
- aDJsavedmylife, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You have a great sense of humor.
- RadicalEdward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11No keyboard found... Press F1 to continue.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Is he under General Failure's command?
- Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Kernel Panic!
- bmeckel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9oh TAB!!!! oh wait, the computer is starting up
- puppyfox, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Meh, a lot of these are application errors, not Windows errors... Windows has some even better ones. For example, I had a Win98 with a dialog box appearing every time you started, which had no text whatsoever, just three buttons: Yes, No, Cancel. I forget which was the best answer :)
- jtbandes, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16As in, find a keyboard, plug it in, and hit a key.
- InsaneMachine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I believe you, because it seems that when you go to a LAN Party, your computer decides to hate you.
- K3ITHK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"what was the website to go to for multiple uploads...turns it into a gallery?"
bayimg, among many others. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Maybe you should learn..
Sorry, a mirror of Best windows error messages. is not available. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8great article (by the sounds of it) ***** ***** server though.
- aikimann, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7"Insane" error?
http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d22/aikimann/?action=view¤t=crazyerror.jpg - shadesfox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8My favorite error message has always been one I got while trying to make exchange server work.
"The Microsoft MTA Exchange Stacks service depends on the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service which failed to start because of the following error:
The operation completed successfully."
Never got the damn exchange server to work. - leksdraven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Kids,...stay off the drugs.
- jbmercha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Error ID.10t
