facepalm - JeffH, on 10/19/2008, -1/+18You know, I always thought to myself:
"Damn. I never want to be as technologically dumb as my parents. I won't let it happen to me."
But holy *****, if we're using dual-screened laptops within a few years from now, when i'm my parents age I have absolutely no idea how the ***** i'm going to learn the new technology.
"God dad, you're such a nub. Just inject the sensor into your eyeball, spin around in circles and scream BINGO and your new eyeMac will boot." - atgmac, on 10/19/2008, -5/+21So it will cost more and will be less usable?
Great. - rac1234, on 10/19/2008, -1/+16Funny, I always thought the keyboard was one of the most useful bits of my computer. With it I can write faster than I can with a pen. It can't be much fun to do a lot of typing on one of these things.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 10/19/2008, -0/+15ASUS makes no BONE about the large STEAK they have in the market. They won't go ROUND and CHUCK their BEEFY advantage, but will FILET their competition right in the TENDERLOIN.
- wTheOnew, on 10/19/2008, -2/+15Haven't we determined that non-tactile keyboards suck?
- Mehdi123456789, on 10/19/2008, -0/+12FTA: "If the report is true, and ASUS does meat its ship target..."
Proofread - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -2/+12ASUS always seems cool, though i've never used any of their products you always here about them attempting to innovate.
- Krumm, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10Exactly - if they stopped throwing steak at boats, they would have more time to make dual screen laptops...
- abbathdoom, on 10/19/2008, -0/+9I take it you havent seen the new OLPC?

If you had you wouldnt be getting such a hardon over this being "ingenious". - mojoel, on 10/19/2008, -1/+10They have medication for your condition now.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -1/+9And Apple will single Handedly "Invent" This idea next year. :p

- RomanThommassen, on 10/19/2008, -1/+94 girls 2 screens 1 laptop.
- IamZed, on 10/19/2008, -0/+7Does it come with Battleship?
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+6Most people who know anything about computers would have started with "Asus, the makers of Motherboards and other internal electronic components." Instead they are relegated to the EEE pc makers, I bet Less then 1% of their profits are from asus branded laptops.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+5Aaaaaand I just put "here" over "hear"... Damn it.
- Farik, on 10/19/2008, -2/+7Multitouch on-screen keyboard...?
- BlatheringIdiot, on 10/19/2008, -0/+5...goes back to tapping away on his trusty IBM Selectric.
- starsky51, on 10/19/2008, -2/+7The DS only has one touchscreen. Although, I still find myself tapping the top screen without thinking.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -3/+7Wow. Will be interesting to see how well these things take off.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+4"will be".... In a noisy cafe?
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -1/+5Tell that to iPhone owners.
- Slade605, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3I actually have the PG221 Monitor, bought it a few days after it was introduced for $600. Best monitor/offtopic thing ever. Only thing it's missing is a TV tuner.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3It does in regard to having a virtual keyboard, numbnuts. I was pointing out that virtual keyboards are only practical on small devices.
- Ziggy7273, on 10/19/2008, -3/+6Don't like it don't buy it.
- AcidBurnz, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3SHOULD HAVE.
- digitalpencil, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3twice the cost, half the usability!!
- TheCoreh, on 10/19/2008, -1/+4sudo facepalm
- arjie, on 10/19/2008, -2/+5Wow, it's the split personality turtle.
- ronaldmonster, on 10/19/2008, -1/+4Good. Now they can ***** on Windows 7 twice as much at the same time like they did with Vista!
- takamichinaku, on 10/18/2008, -7/+10I would call it "iPC DS" ...
- fuxjoey, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3Althought it's interesting. Definitely I will go to a store and play around with it a little. But for a daily use? Nah...
- 007isbond1, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3homophone phail
- 007isbond1, on 10/19/2008, -1/+4dugg for off topic, most interesting thing so far
- 2uantuM, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3Except the iPhone users are constantly looking at the keys as they type. I don't know about you, but I don't want to do when I'm on my computer.
What the hell is wrong with a normal keyboard? - Schmich, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2Same although I've used plenty of their "normal" products and I can't complain about them.
- PhailQuail, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2Dugg for use of Q's instead of seasons, because the latter is only accurate for half the planet.
- JaRail, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2If by keyboard jack, you mean USB/bluetooth, yes.
Two screens will hurt battery life. That will suck. But it will balance against everything that has been done in recent years to reduce power consumption. It's about time we added some new features. - jakem1, on 10/19/2008, -1/+3Microsoft will be releasing Vista SP2 before Windows 7:

- arjie, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2Like the NEC P-ISM? (yeah yeah, piss 'em, we've heard that a hundred times before)
http://www.nec.co.jp/design/en/advance/indexj.html
One hell of a device. Looks really cool. - darkNiGHTS, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2I'm using one of their laptops and it definitely has some innovative features. The webcam on top swivels 180 so I be recording something in front of me while I'm sitting at my laptop. My ASUS monitor is the first mainstream monitor to have a piece of glass protecting the screen.
And what about the EEE PC? They completely changed the PC market like no one else has in years. There's also express gate which is a small linux based OS that boots in a very short amount of time allowing you to quickly check your email or talk on skype.
They also have the first fanless GPUs that actually work and stay cool. Look around on NewEgg and you'll see them.
They might be quite experimental, but they do deliver as well. - aserer511, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2NOT in for. typing on a screen, even with the best tactile response, is not the same as a keyboard
