- fyrehart, on 10/10/2007, -11/+219All Windows apps are free, if you know where to look.
- Hipple, on 10/10/2007, -8/+115Would you shoot a police officer? Would you steal his helmet?
- CandleZach, on 10/10/2007, -2/+57Yes, yes I would. I would then go to the toilet in his helmet, send it to his grieving widow, and steal it again.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+46Funny, I thought this would be a link to sourceforge.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -1/+36*cough*
- Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -2/+31Yes. Now, about that free software...?
- Phlosten, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27Maybe they should forget about the free apps and concentrate on getting some decent website hosting instead.
- zyklon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Wordpress? ERROR? Inconceivable!!!
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -5/+23would you ***** in his helmet, then give it to his grieving widow... then steal it back?
- JasonCox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Paint and Notepad for life!
- scrag10, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I think think gimp needs a new interface and something better then the "Gimpshop" Enviroment. Unlesh Gimp 3.0 we can handle it.
- greenlight2001, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17If necessary?
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17bring out the gimp!
- darknesfallz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14They also forgot to include Blender which is a awesome Free modeling tool http://www.blender.org/
- TomP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OyoFVGvks4
- Jaymoon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Only possible explanation is that people digg it, then check it a few hours/days later when the site is working just fine...
- rompom7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Here, have a gold star.
- RemuS02, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11The IT Crowd FTW!
- ohanon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You really must like Gimp to list it twice
- wabbiteh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+101. This isn't a list of all free software for windows
2. Not all of those packages listed in the package manager are what one could call fully functional.
I'm all for linux (dual-boot gentoo), just don't be an ignorant dick about it. - tdous, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Not very user friendly. Uninstalled it.
- RockinRoel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The current GIMP is really bad. It's got nice features and all, but it could use a complete GUI rework. Gimpshop isn't making it any better. What I especially dislike is the lack of layer styles. I use them a lot, I'm not going to use some drop shadow effect, because then I would have to turn my vectors into bitmaps, making them uneditable.
It generally just feels bad. - palehorse864, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it does.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9i use this sometimes - it reviews them and its updated regularly so you can tell when it was reviewed

- esotericguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9and yet i still feeled compelled to digg you down.
- MalDON, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9http://www.opensourcewindows.org
- hlynch1, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15i would also poop in his helmet. Give it back to his grieving widow. then steal it again.
- Meep3D, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Why include The GIMP when their is Paint.NET available? The GIMP is to graphic design what QBasic is to programming. The only reason people use/promote it is because it's FOSS and thus automatically beyond criticism.
- psilanthropist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9it just means he cant make a baby right
- Sil369, on 10/10/2007, -7/+15Under my shoe?
- tdous, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Urgh, god no.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Paint.NET is superior unless gimp sorts out the interface. its absolutely horrible.
- sudowrestler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I have a Mac too. And you know what? Mac trolls look as dumb as Windows trolls.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9*cough* warez-bb.org 300k users*cough*
- ninezeroeight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It sure as hell was receieved as Spam.

Notepad++ > Notepad2 > 5 minutes in a programming language making a Notepad Replacement > Notepad.exe - Jerky1312, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's been open sourced for exactly 5 years and 2 days. A funding campaign was started to raise enough money ($102,000) to have the source code released and that fund raiser took less than 2 months to reach the goal, hence allowing Blender to become open source software.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blender_%28software%29#History - jorgepblank, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Wow, down already. :(
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Because that would make sense...
- JoyrexJ9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Nice list, makes a change for digg
- dchaosdx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4VLC player rules as well.. definitely a voonderfall app.
- wontstoptalking, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.teknobites.com%2F2007%2F09%2F08%2F40-free-windows-apps-for-you%2F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
- Figs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why doesn't the digg team just add a 'tag' button so they can look later instead of artificially inflating the number of diggs?
- AndreGerber, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5felt
I'm sorry. I never correct other people's spelling, but I couldn't resist. - TheSeeker11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4A more comprehensive list - http://osswin.sourceforge.net/

That's okay, if you can run any of my other fav...oh...you can't run any real games. I prefer aids and video games to god and terminal. Goodbye, sweet angel of the web.
- stonedslacker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Demon *cough* oid.
Best place in my opinion. - Figs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4And yet, somehow, the number of diggs keeps going up and up... it was 66 when I clicked, and minutes later, it's over 80? Wtf!
