- Noctem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15This should be in the official Debian repositories some time in 2011 :)
- tokyo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9neat :) xcfe is wicked.
- wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9As much as I like Xfce, I still don't think this is worth posting to digg over. When Xfce 5 comes out that would be a big enough deal to post to digg. The recent trend of posting each itty bitty revision release of major (and even minor) OSS projects is pointless. I think I saw 3 Wine releases posted here in 2 weeks. That is just too much unimportant info too often.
Quality of the stories and such on digg and slashdot and any other site of the kind is inevitably going to be lower than well respected news organizations like Reuters and such. This is why rating systems like the one used here on digg.com exist, to help filter out the ***** and get the relevant stuff to the masses. None-the-less, by pushing unimportant and trivial content like this to the front page constantly you further lower the _apparent_ quality of digg content. You are hurting digg. While many take the trend way too far, get way too insulting, and in some cases simply don't know what they are talking about, this is why people bitch about dupes, grammar, spelling, and non-news.
In short: why do these minor revisions need to be on digg and why should they get so much attention that they reach the front page? Think about this next time you go to post one or digg one. If you still think it relevant and worthy of the front page, then be my guest. - dkla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yep, me too. I use xubuntu on my old P4 with 128MB RAM and it works fine. Good enough for basic office work.
- wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3heh. The bury button makes no point.
People bury other people based on dozens of different things. More than half of them are incorrect uses of the bury function (such as burying some one/thing cause you disagree with their opinion).
Also, the bury function is cowardly when used by itself. I like discussing and debating things. People who bury usually don't want their point of view questioned. - Robotsu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Awesome, I'll have to update my laptop. It's only got 128mb of RAM so XFCE is one of the DE's I can run without trouble and still do my daily workload.
- handsomeramin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5so, will xubuntu come with this?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Screenshots
- Lick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes I agree. This article is only a changelog and the latest version does not even contain any major changes.
The poster of this news is obviously hoping to indirectly recommend or introduce Xfce to the masses, through Digg. A better idea that has more impact would be to get off your lazy bumm and write an article about Xfce and afterwards digg that article. At least we get to read a proper article instead of just a changelog. - tokyo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3whoops xfce*
- tommyfullington, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1YEssssssssssssssssssSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssssssssssssssSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSss
I don't even care that it's just a maintenence release I'm all about XFCE.
That little mouse is my old laptops FRIEND!
This is so worth posting on digg loser :P - tommyfullington, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That's what i'm saying home slice, gotta love xfce. i'm all about never putting more ram in my system cuz im a cheap skate *thumbs up*... this is good news.
- woxidu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3That was a /really/ long way of making the same point that the "Bury" button is supposed to make. Now you've made me type three sentences about it. Everyone should bury you AND me for letting this stupidity go on for so long.
- woxidu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Looks like you've gotten the list of similarities between your thoughts about this article and my thoughts about you off to a great start!
- tommyfullington, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0It Don't matter.
xubuntu sucks...
zenwalk bitch - aussieaubs, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1I'll bury glibby for being boring ;)
