- digg it
- PhinnFort, on 10/11/2007, -45/+6Nice.
- jasmin888, on 10/11/2007, -27/+2A very interesting observation:
I loaded digg spy in the browser and compared the links in that browser to my 'own' browser - though they are not that different they are not identical. Some times 'my' browser will drop one or a couple links some times it's the wubuntu browser that drops one or a couple links. Interesting. - corevette, on 10/11/2007, -27/+12for anyone who doesn't know:
no, that is not the actually ubuntu
i sure hope no one thought it was...lonniebiz got me worried - DuhStupid, on 10/11/2007, -39/+2zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz buried
- GotMex, on 10/11/2007, -26/+3Never seen a buried thread with all the replies burried as well, awesome.
- polymorphist, on 10/11/2007, -17/+87It's not a web operating system...it's just a regular web site (and a very empty one, btw) with the Ubuntu look and feel.
- DaMacGamer, on 10/11/2007, -26/+5dugg for the name.
- FutureGuy, on 10/11/2007, -30/+2yes very nice, at least as good a Ubuntu, glad I didn't install it lol.
- jasmin888, on 10/11/2007, -16/+5The bury army at it again, almost every top post dugg down - LOL
Of course it's not an operating system - it's just good fun. But the browser actually works!!!
See my (dugg down) comment above - neau, on 10/11/2007, -12/+3FUbuntu!
- GoodOldJacob, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2Is this guy stealing passwords?
- Kazanoe, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2jasmin888: It's the Bury /Brigade/ not army, last I checked.

- jasmin888, on 10/11/2007, -27/+2A very interesting observation:
- Gadren, on 10/11/2007, -3/+142Anyone else try to infinitely open Wubuntu inside itself?
- stouffer67, on 10/11/2007, -17/+5Yea, I tried to open it a few times in itself and it actually did work. I thought it was gonna say something about tring it but I guess not.
- Richggs, on 10/11/2007, -4/+52Wow imagine trying to run this in IE, Firefox on Ubuntu on IE - isn't that some sort of paradox?
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+46@ OP
yes I did try that, while also running on Ubuntu, now if you'll excuse me I have to stop my past self from making sweet love to my mother.... - PhireN, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I couldn't manage to get firefox in the 2nd wubuntu to work.
- scheming, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1you can only try dumber and dumber things for such a DUMB ASS website. pointless. i'm sure you worked hard on it though, so ummm... no offense?
- RoboDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@richggs
It doesn't run in IE.
- c10h14n2, on 10/11/2007, -189/+3interesting that one of the first things it tries to do is run scripts, log your IP, mount your windows partition and format it...sounds like a hack attempt to me. Stay away.
- ers35, on 10/11/2007, -4/+132I hope you are being sarcastic:
"Mounting non-existing file systems..."
"Executing some scripts..."
"Logging your IP (jk :P)..."
"Formatting Windows partition..."
"'Bill blocked it, trying again..."
As you can see, it is meant as a joke. - jalte, on 10/11/2007, -42/+3c10h14n2, you are funny
- c10h14n2, on 10/11/2007, -21/+95Yup. The first thing I did was reboot my machine and then log into my bank account and saw that all my money was debited to amazon.com for a new HDTV. I'm sure it was this website that did it. Wubuntu. Russians thieves, I'm sure.
Oh wait. Maybe I was just drunken internet shopping again....Damn. - ers35, on 10/11/2007, -25/+11Ah, so you are just being a troll.
- FutureGuy, on 10/11/2007, -21/+5Another attempth to moke MS and Bill Gates yawn, grown up!!!
- raindogmx, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20@c10h14n2
If you was I hope you gave my shipping address instead of any other. That way I can ship your HDTV to you. - mictester, on 10/11/2007, -13/+27c10h14n2 is either clueless or humourless, and probably thinks Internet Explorer is a Web Browser!
- zongamin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7You complete cretin - throw away your computer immediately
- GavinZac, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3wow, its like terrorism paranoia, but with hackers.
Maybe would-be-presidents should promise a War On Malware - gjs278, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@mictester
Internet explorer is classified as a web browser, and if you had actually read his second comment, you would understand his original comment is a joke.
- ers35, on 10/11/2007, -4/+132I hope you are being sarcastic:
- jalte, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1nice one..
- linuxwarz, on 10/11/2007, -21/+4Hmm... ubuntu is starting to get like server 2003.
Standard, enterprise, web... sigh. - twtmc, on 10/11/2007, -58/+8http://www.duggmirror.com
- Willow01, on 10/11/2007, -29/+51You may want to make sure duggmirror works before you post. Makes you look like an ass.
- rompom7, on 10/11/2007, -5/+59Why do people keep saying that?
I don't see how it hurts to post a duggmirror link. When the server recovers, duggmirror will get it. There has been a few cases where people have bitched abouta non-working duggmirror link that worked perfectly fine for me. Most servers only allow a certain amount of simultaneous connections, and if duggmirror can manage to get a connection, it will be able to save a cache of the page before most of us can get in.
If you get so angsty over wasting 2 second of your time by clicking a duggmirror link that doesn't work, then maybe you should just not try the duggmirror link in the first place.
I don't mind if you digg down a duggmirror link comment, cause that indicates it doesn't work... What I just don't understand is how people constantly bitch about people posting a duggmirror link... It makes no sense... I cannot come up with one reason as to why people would complain about having a duggmirror link in the comments section, even if it doesn't work.
[/rant] - Willow01, on 10/11/2007, -37/+3@rompom7
I seem to click on the dugmirror link first since FF has a nifty little plugin called Dugged, which in turn adds a duggmirror link directly next to the article on the front page.
Do all of us a favor, please think before you speak, people don't always click on the duggmirror links in the comments. - rompom7, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18@willow01: That was one sentence in my argument. I do, in fact, think before I speak. You picked one sentence in my argument that does not apply to you, and tried to disprove my whole argument. Nice rhetoric, but it doesn't work like that.
I use a bookmarklet that I wrote, it takes me to the duggmirror from a digg comments page. Anyone that wants to use it, add this to your bookmarks:
javascript:window.location.href=window.location.href.replace('digg.com', 'duggmirror.com');
Just go to the digg comments page of the story, then click the bookmark. - GhostCow, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4@rompom7
Thanks much for that little script. With Opera+Speed Dial, my life just got a whole lot easier. Ctrl+5 ftw!

flubuntu -- the distribution for people who have influenza
subuntu -- the distribution for lawyers
chewbuntu -- the distribution for lawyers who employ the Chewbacca defense in their cases
cluebuntu -- the distribution for people who, unlike all other Ubuntu users, actually know how to use Linux/Unix
stewbuntu -- the distribution for people who like thick, hearty soups
bluebuntu -- the distribution for people whose favorite color is blue (and who can't stand the warm colors in the default color scheme -- yuck)
oh, and finally:
YOUbuntu -- the personalized distribution just for YOU- Gman1223, on 10/11/2007, -2/+31I'm making my own distro based off ubuntu, I call it upuntu (you say it like "ooo-poon-too") it's going to be mainly for porn viewing, it has a dirty theme and wallpaper. I'm going to offer a free cd service, you get a free tube of lube with it.
- trogdoor, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15@gman1223
You realize that dirty wallpapers are what gave Ubuntu it's initial burst of popularity?

Oh and the actual purpose:
"Welcome to Wubuntu, the Ubuntu interface as a website. I started this project because I thought it was a challange to make something look like an operating system. In this case i chose Ubuntu, since I had already done Vista :P" - LordVance, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18It is/was a proof of concept exercise for its developer(s?). Someone thought it was cool, and dugg it. It seems many agree that it is, indeed, a neat site to glance at for a quick 30 seconds.

- LittLeBunny2o5, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5It's way too laggy, but I Dugg it anyway for it's potential. Hopefully, a better version will come along soon enough.

- trogdoor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Well if you think about it they have a "live" CD and an "alternate" CD, and there is only one alternative I can think of to being alive so as long as the possum is x86 compatible it should work fine. I'll leave finding out where exactly you insert the CD as an exercise for the reader...

What is Jewbuntu?
Jewbuntu is a variant of a variant of the Ubuntu Operating system designed specifically for Jews. Like the editions put out by the goyish communities, such as Ubuntu CE and ME, Jewbuntu takes the best that Ubuntu has to offer, and adds special open-source software and packages that appeal to a Jewish Audience.
Features and Benefits
Jewbuntu is Free!
Jewbuntu contains the Torah in its original Hebrew form, as well as the entire liturgy for the entire year!
All religious text are denominationally aware - for example, if you are Conservative or Reform it will remove the portions of the Torah not acknowledged by your denomination, and utilize the proper liturgy.
In addition to the Security tools in standard versions of Linux, Jewbuntu comes with Insecurity tools that were specially designed to encourage users to keep their system up to date. Instead of displaying a simple 'New Updates are Available message', it prompts you with - ' Go ahead, don't patch me, it's not as if I'm important enough to be hacked, and even if I am, what's the worse that can happen - so you lose a few pictures of the Grandchildren that you haven't sent you Mom yet, she'll live.'
Did we mention, it's F-R-E-E!
Jewbuntu can also be configured to automatically update your computer, and then notify you that it updated itself - because G-d only knows that if it had to wait for you, it would never get done.
Jewbuntu also comes with the Mamaloshen Open Mailer program (MOM) for short. This program not only manages your e-mail and calendar, but also analyzes the events on your calendar and provides you with custom, helpful, and timely reminders (Heaven forbid you should listen). At random intervals during the day MOM will review your e-mails and calendar and offer advice tidbits. Here are some samples: "You have a date with Allison this evening - where is this going? Hey, why is it marked as an overnight event?"; "Funny, I browsed your whole schedule and noticed you didn't have a single entry for 'Call Mom' so I took the liberty of adding it as a recurring event - hourly."
The system comes complete with RSS feeds of Classic Yiddish Insults, MP3 Hebrew Word Pronunciation Guides, and excuses for not calling your Mother.
Once, again, there is no cost for Jewbuntu!
Jewbuntu also has the Instant Advocacy script - this script searches the net for public opinon polls about Israel, and automatically votes once every five minutes based on your political preferences.
Jewbuntu has several variants including:
JAP Edition - has a special payment service that automatically charges Daddy's credit card
Mixed-Marriage Edition - Combines the best of Ubuntu CE and Jewbuntu. Also includes 'Jewish tips for Goyim' MOTD; The only caveat is that you can't install the Orthodox Denomination
Goojubuntu - Are you a Googler? Want the best of Jewbuntu, but also the best of the Goobuntu distro? Goojubuntu combines both in one easy to download package. BONUS - includes a special translating tool - GooGooGaJew - which changes all long U sounds into the Google-Kitschy oo - i.e. Kugel and Bubbaleh become Koogle and Boobaleh respectively.- tize, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5the effort, sorry i have to bury you :(
- kballweg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Ah yes, tize, political correctness. The death of humor.
Well done. Can the distro include commemorative (nudity optional) Catskills Comedians wallpaper. The more offensive the better.

i thought we were done posting these last summer - BlackMask, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2Buried! Simply waste of time. I understand that it's a web-based interface but silly. Also it has numerous bugs and doesn't fully represent Ubuntu in all its glory. I could have made better demos using Flash, but since the author is a linux nazi (you understand that he is a lame fanboy when he says "type win+r, then type format c:/ and install linux and you will like it"), he didn't probably want to use Flash in Windows platform to create the demo. too bad his linux can't run hardcore web development suits such as flash, adobe photoshop etc.
Oh and when Macromedia and Adobe port all their applications to Linux, wake me up and remind me to format my C drive. Oh wait...what about direct X 10 games? - MihaiM, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I was sure it was some way to run Ubuntu on the Wii
- starfire039, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Wow! This is so neat. It's so well designed, like ubuntu. It doesn't matter I can't use adobe creative suite, play games, connect my E61, won't recognise all the buttons on my razer copperhead, seldom doesn't install, seldom crashes X server when I install nvidia drivers, rythymbox randomly closes whilst adding files to the library which takes forever compared to winamp, can't properly use dual monitors the way I want, has skimpy documentation that means googling or asking on the forum is necessary, if not plugged into a specific monitor port won't install at all, doesn't actually do better than the downstairs windows machine on a shields up test, no support for my printer, no support for my wireless card, slow menus in gnome.......
It's alright, slap on a buggy heap of ***** to make the UI wobbly and cause it's open source and free it's fine, despite the fact it can't do what I can do on a Mac or Windows box any better, if at all!- stmiller, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Then don't use Linux. You sound like you are better off with Windows.
- zubinmehta, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1it wont be a surprise that in the near future we will have a whole set of diff ubuntu's
viz,.... A-ubuntu, B-ubuntu, C-ubuntu ......Z-ubuntu...(yeah some in this series do exist :P) - shawnz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3this is such an abuse of html. why in the hell would you bother with this when you could use... you know what, nevermind. i'm not even going to relate this to the real ubuntu.

cnttuchme: If your friend uses Linux and likes it a lot.. I'd recommend talking to them about distro choices and as well to help you get started. Having someone who knows what they're doing around makes things much easier.
- WeeJeWel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dude, someone just told me some guy digged this.. and I was like 'wtf' when I read the comments :P So much offtopic, but who cares? :P
Don't take my project too seriously. It was just an idea of mine and never had the idea to develop it any further. And ofcourse I didn't format your HD, but if I was able to I definitly would :)
Oh, and this explains why my server was so slow. It's a slow school server that can handle a maximum of about 3 connections lol :P- nxtwrld, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2nice work!
The next step should be implementing it in Flash to simulate Beryl effects ;-))
- nxtwrld, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2nice work!
- angrykeyboarder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Clever idea. Too bad it's look is somewhat dated. It's from a GUI that's over a year old.
