- sirhomer, on 12/28/2007, -2/+86Wine release. Dugg.
- hungryduck, on 12/28/2007, -1/+35Just keeps getting better!
- Xanium4332, on 12/28/2007, -3/+36Can we get a feature that autodigg's stories based on keyword matching, cause I'm getting pretty fed up of having to manually digg each new wine version.
- jdhore1, on 12/28/2007, -1/+29Looking good...Graphics tablets and screen depth fixes...2 steps closer to Photoshop?
- MWeather, on 12/28/2007, -1/+25Uh, it already supports directx9.
- HalfGiraffe, on 12/29/2007, -4/+28Is anyone working on a Windows port? I don't want to have to use ubuntooth just to run Wine.
- Craga89, on 12/28/2007, -1/+25Wine is great. I recently helped a friend install CS: source on it and I was blown away at how well it ran with very little setup! Great job dev team, keep it up!
- wolvyne, on 12/28/2007, -2/+25Because all of us Windows folks are looking for the day when we can run linux but still use our Windows apps with less performance loss than there currently is. It will be a glorious day when that happens.
- donutwant, on 12/28/2007, -28/+47Wine is the best emulator ever.
- bigsteve, on 12/28/2007, -1/+19Works on a lot more platforms than just Linux. But you wouldn't know anything about that.
- MrLlama, on 12/28/2007, -1/+18But its ***** good!
- MWeather, on 12/28/2007, -4/+21We get a front page story for every release of Windows, why shouldn't we get one for every release of Wine?
- Xanium4332, on 12/28/2007, -5/+20Stop trying to provoke people...
- kleverness, on 12/28/2007, -0/+14Photoshop CS2 already runs very well :)
- Xanium4332, on 12/28/2007, -0/+13+1 to the times you've been buried...
- MrPig, on 12/29/2007, -0/+12Yes - we do. So that if someone doesn't know what WINE is they can. It's - honestly - one of the most amazing pieces of software out there. And I don't think it gets the respect it deserves. This may be a little over the top... but I say it balances it out... or nearly does.
- KloroFormd, on 12/28/2007, -0/+11What's wrong with aMSN and AmaroK?
- HonestAbe, on 12/28/2007, -0/+11Ewwwwwwwww you said "MSN Messenger",
- KloroFormd, on 12/28/2007, -0/+11DX9 works... I play CS:S all the time in DX9.
- YokoZar, on 12/29/2007, -0/+11It takes me a few hours to compile and upload them. When I'm not lazy.
- GaryS278, on 12/28/2007, -2/+13I played starcraft flawlessly today.
- sirhomer, on 12/29/2007, -2/+12Sure thing: http://www.winehq.org/site/download
Scroll down to the Windows port - zwaldowski, on 12/28/2007, -1/+11Yes, Windows and Linux do battle.
- potterboy, on 12/29/2007, -0/+10Forgot to mention that Baryn is an idiot.
- derjames, on 12/28/2007, -2/+12'an' Emulator...
- shaherazad, on 12/28/2007, -0/+10I wish I could play starcraft flawlessly, you can win a lot of money doing that.
- MWeather, on 12/28/2007, -0/+9I played Everquest 2 flawlessly today. And for the last few weeks. Civilization 4: BTS, too.
- geminitojanus, on 12/28/2007, -0/+9In case you don't already know this, APIs in Windows change every time there's a breeze in the wrong direction. Most of the time they're just additions and not subtractions nor actual changes in the amounts or kinds of arguments, but all of the above has been known to happen at varying points.
Windows itself has had to adopt various levels of "compatibility libraries" just to keep up with the fact they can't remove dead code (*somebody's* code will break somewhere). This is why reimplementing Windows has taken so damned long and is so hard to get right. - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -1/+10I like how now you can change the colour of the background for the virtual desktop. ( this might be from 0.9.5.0)
- kleverness, on 12/28/2007, -2/+11Amarok is far far better than iTunes in every sense.
For MSN-like software you could try aMSN which is feature complete. If you don't like it, emesene is growing fast and it's beautiful. :) - HalfGiraffe, on 12/29/2007, -1/+10Yes! It gives me terrible headaches.
- bigsteve, on 12/28/2007, -0/+8http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=86
The Wine HQ App database is your friend. - MWeather, on 12/28/2007, -0/+8Out of curiosity, what features does gnucash/kmymoney lack that you need?
- Breepee, on 12/28/2007, -0/+7They plan to go 1.0 in 2008. But then again it's just the version numbering, rebuilding the moving target that is Windows will never be complete.
- reazal, on 12/28/2007, -1/+7Next mission: Make it perfectly works on CS3 ;)
- NoOneButMe, on 12/29/2007, -0/+6Whats the version number got to do with program features?
- potterboy, on 12/29/2007, -0/+6Using Emulate as a verb still is not quite accurate. It doesn't aim to recreate or be identical to Windows, it simply aims to make Win32 applications compatible with Unix operating systems.
- fiendskull9, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5emesene is looking VERY nice
and amarok is MUCH better than itunes - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -4/+9Yea I hate being forced to use Windows. I really do and Macs are too expensive.
- armo, on 12/29/2007, -0/+5I find kopete far nicer to use
- zzzpoohzzz, on 12/29/2007, -0/+5i actually get a performance increase in a few areas!
- Mindset1, on 12/28/2007, -3/+8and every time a comment like yours gets buried.
- Remmy, on 12/29/2007, -0/+5Whine about Wine much?
- Derrekito, on 12/29/2007, -0/+5it's still news. Don't like it, don't digg it.
- Amazetbm, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5It already works. I've played Half-life 2 on a WINE installation.
- 000dom000, on 12/29/2007, -2/+7yeah thers one already out, its called windows
- jasonlfunk, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4Is it just me or are the ubuntu repositories not updated yet?
- mmmiiikkkeee, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4you have to ask what is wrong with aMSN!!!! it sucks... don't get me wrong I make my wife use it but honestly its ugly and does not correctly do as easly what my wife wants....
- icechen1, on 12/29/2007, -0/+4well blame it on microsoft for not releashing their code for Windows.Wine devs have to figure out themselves.
- potterboy, on 12/29/2007, -2/+6W.I.N.E. Wine is not an emulator. It is a Windows compatability layer for x86 based Unix operating systems. An emulator recreates an entire computer.

What is Digg?
