- f00xx0riz3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Wardriving is soooooo 2005. I just check the internet for hotspots.
- tuartboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Call me a geek, but I've been on Wigle.net for years (Indiana Wardrivers Group) and am in the process of building a roof rack 19db parabolic antenna mount with a rotating dish for a friend's Explorer. Coupled with a 200mw card, this thing has 16W of gain (excluding line loss...), 4x the FCC limit!
We tested it out to a solid 2 miles before we ran out of road.
Admittedly, we both use macs, but the wardriving computer is a Windows XP desktop with netstumbler and I remote into it to get info and GPS nav while he drives. The Delorme GPS doesn't play nice with anything but windows, so steer clear.
Anyway, it's rather fun if you have never tried it. Just load up Netstumbler, Kismet, or Kismac on a laptop with wireless and have at it. - un1x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's still working with Ubuntu 6.06 "Dapper" or Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy"
- whodatis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wardriving = driving around with a computer equipped with a wireless card, searching for a wifi connection. I prefer netstumbler and airsnort though.... There is a linux distro specially made for this called knoppix std

- hausmasta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Depends on how you pronounce it. If you pronounce it "Jubuntu" then it's "a Ubuntu notebook".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3this is for Ubuntu 5.10 "The Breezy Badger" and i am not sure still how many people are using this version
- un1x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Thanks for telling me this. I changed it on the original howto. I'm glad to now that you don't do mistakes in foreign languages.
- LaserLine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With this data you can put it in http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Main_Page . That thing is going to rock once more people get involved and start submitting more and more maps.
- whodatis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does wardriving meet the requirements of the GNU General Public License?
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love it when children post just to post.
