- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think this is what OS X would have looked like if Microsoft was in charge of UI design.
- embraceware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nope - doesn't look or feel like it. I use Macs at home and PCs at work - and I've tried all of the OS X themes on the PC - I always revert back to a Windows theme. Even the best OS X theme on Windows has too many annoying glitches (problems with button sizes/text or tabs or color scheme causing Outlook to look too washed out to pick out anything, bad corners, the list goes on). On the PC I use the Media Center theme (Royale or Energy Blue are the common names) or the latest Vista theme - those work out best since they have been built for the OS. Failing either of those Windows themes I go back to classic.
OS X style on OS X and Windows style on Windows. - fulldecent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My dog looks more like Max OS X than this!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Enlightment in no way looks like OSX even dr17.
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OS X has some great features, but it doesn't look all that good. Sure, it's better than any other OS's default theme (with the possible exception of e17, but that's still in development), but Gnome and KDE can both be made to look much, much better than OS X. Once the composite extension is more stable on more video cards it'll be fantastic.
- BenStockwell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eh, it's easier to make GNOME look like OS X.
- zagi1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree its the users freedom to choose, and if they like it go ahead.
Personally I will keep my WindowMaker =) - duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4This brings me to today's word, "HELL NO"
Stephen Colbert - strcmp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A better idea would be able to make the Finder's functionality more like Konqueror's.
- xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ubuntu style! http://maniseb.free.fr/screenshot/desk033.png
- Deviant_Tech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you want a desktop that looks like OS X, here's a thought... GET A MAC!
- EmmEff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is it that all open source desktop environment software (GNOME, KDE, etc) is nothing more than a blatent rip-off on pre-existing OS look and feel. How about some innovation?
- eclipxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like ***** to me. At least the windows OSX skins look decent (flyakiteosx). The fonts and dialog widgets are all wrong.
- renatoram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd like to second duke_nate's words: hell, no!
I'd rather not use KDE entirely, thank you! :-)
(Gnome with Clearlooks and gperfection2 icons for me, thank you very much)
:-)
Anyway, I know a lot of people who dig(g) the shiny/glassy OSX look, so... enjoy yourself, and the freedom to be able to choose! - teitoku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OS X? Looks more like AS S
- ToadX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uh... that doesn't look like Mac OS X at all... I've seen much better OS X themes for Windows.
- xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Okay first of all I am a Mac/PC/Unix user Mac for every day things PC for games and misc stuff and Linux for my file & app servers I don't even have X11 installed on my linux boxes cause I just ssh in OS X to manage them, but anyways no one said they look exactly like osx now did they? some of you mac users need to loosen up a bit, don't get me wrong aqua is THE best looking UI which both has form&function not just eye candy and all hail Steve Jobs but damn if you don't have anything good to say just don't comment at all, your just making yourself look like an ass..
- dombi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I saw the title I thought that someone actually came up with a good theme... but those pictures just look awful. I wouldn't want to pull this over KDE's default skin. digg-
- barbobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0really bad example imo
- Ritalin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I use KDE and managed to make it look like OS X but it came out looking good... this guy made it all messed up. How can you mess up Baghira so badly? :|
Digg because it's very possible with Baghira, those examples do it no justice. - Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+1 digg
- etx313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I installed this on PC-BSD the other day, but it's been around for ever. It looks like *****, works like *****. I simply hate KDE so whatever. I'm working on a PBI for GNUStep for PC-BSD, kde sucks arse.
Think about this, an aqua skin for Gnustep on bsd. That would be nice, it would work like nextstep, look good and have all the freebsd power. That's my dream open source desktop. Too bad it probably wont ever happen. Although the new GNUStep live cd runs on kFreeBSD and not linux which is bad-ass. - geoffoliver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is atrocious.
- 8^)Jung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you want the OSX feel why not buy a Mac? You can run any BSD application you want on a Mac. You can use Fink to install binaries or you can compile anything you want from source and it will run. It do it all the time on my Mac. I love some of the applications I have on my linux laptop.
- TestFar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeh, we get it koolaidguy, your a script genius. Great. Now leave.
- NidStyles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Perhaps I should try installing Linux on my Mac to see what this actually looks like compared to OS X first hand. =D
- Cippy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about graphite?
I did something similar when my laptop had Linux on it. I would have kept it on if it worked with my external wireless card. - qwertme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe it LOOKS like OS X (from far far away) but it won't FEEL like OS X
- 3Den, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not about a look... or just being pretty.
Lipstick on a pig.. I like that.
OS X is not the most stunning looking desktop I've ever seen; the winner in that category would by far be some of the custom linux desktops I've seen over the years. I've also seen linux desktops customized for a particular task even better than OSX could do.. however.
Visual appeal is only really important as an aid to making things easier to use. If things are where you expect them, and things have the right contrast, it's mentally easier to use the system. Drop-shadows aren't just pretty, they serve to subtly let you know which window has focus. These are features you don't notice until they are gone. - proglottis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who would do this?
The hardcore themeing comes in is when you have a matching custom theme for Grub, the kernel splash, KDM -and- KDE. This is one of the things that K/Ubuntu do well. - beneno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Answer : No
- xiloki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No want. No launchers, panels, or borders shall sully my desktop.
- RogueJediX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0First off, whoever posted the last few comments linking to some blog: Not having a social life must suck, huh?
Second off, I'm totally against emulating the OS X look. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks awesome, it's just that I KNOW we can create our own look instead of copying it from other operating systems. If you take a look at http://www.kde-look.org/, then you'll notice, that half of the themes emulate some OS's look or another, mostly Windows XP, Windows Vista and OS X. Come on! How about something original? No digg. - timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.elivecd.org/gb/Main/Screenshots/
enlightenment 6 is like osx
spammers get lost - Scourge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Got spam filter?

- peorth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ban the ip! He's registering more users
- 0x4B494C4C, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Enlightenment's been mentioned but also XFCE looks quite OSX-ish too. Plus these two arent the bloat-fest that is KDE.
- toasterwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is better.
http://www.kde-look.org/content/pre1/26538-1.jpg - cakefart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, I want it to look just like xmpdpveqlrctx. He's the coolest ever.
- brhad56, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Surely someone can ban xmpdpveqlrctx and vwrwpjmsmhtm.
- timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ban that spammer
- xedeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I Have seen WAY better ones here just one example

Fluxbox roxor. - generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want my KDE to look like KDE.
- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hilarious
- embraceware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with Raian - very shotty job. One way to put it - looking at this KDE theme is like looking at a CSS website in Netscape 4...
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh and I think this story has been spammed :P
- SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You learn how spell please?
KDE doesn't deserve to get covered in Aqua. It seems a stupid thing to say but Aqua only looks right in OS X. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who who do such a thing? :)
