http://www.debianadmin.com - kdehead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7errrgh - that site puts tutorials from other sites within a frameset - so that your url always stays as "unix-tutorials.com". errrghh.... thats as bad as that crappy about.com site.
- slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Best tutorial is to use "man" for all your help needs!
- msikma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not really. The useful thing about man pages is that they can act as a quick reference for most things. But when you want to know how to do specific things with practical use, you need tutorials to explain things. Man pages have a limited scope of use and don't span across multiple programs.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Inaccurate - the list does not cover all of a *nix user's needs - there is not tutorial for 'getting a girlfriend'.

Digg has nothing to do with this behaviour. - luistux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd have to agree with msika.
Best tutorials: www.tldp.org
Simply the project that makes just about all the documentation available to Linux. For those not familiar, you'll already have this info in /usr/doc if your linux distro did not change the standard location that has been since early 90's. - askjamiescott, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1great read. very helpful and already bookmarked :D
- brunovernay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Remember : http://digg.com/linux_unix/UnixTutorials_Unix_tutorials_for_all_your_needs ?
Isn't it some kind of abuse ??
Anyway I just copy/paste my comment :
I tried to read some of them, but it is just a reference to tutorials and how-to writen in other sites (http://tldp.org/, http://www.howtoforge.com/, http://www.linux.com/, ...), plus ads banner. No content here !
Not sure if it is more convenient than Google ... - msikma, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5While we're spamming useful links, here's another: http://freecomputerbooks.com/boat/booksIndex2.html - loads free computer books.
- Leffe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Okay everyone, this is the ULTIMATE list. You can never digg any other tutorial list.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5"This site just snarfs stuff from elsewhere and puts [ads] around it."
Sounds like a fantastic business model. Too bad you couldn't just get users to submit stories, then have them pick the ones they want to see, using algorithms to sort all of the nitty-gritty stuff out. That'd be convenient...
...Nah. The users would catch on too easily. : P - pixelbeat_, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4This site just snarfs stuff from elsewhere and puts adds around it.
And it's on the front page again? Come on digg you have to stop this!
On the 20th Sept this site was on the front page twice.
And for the second one which was snarfing the content from linux journal,
there was already a front page story to the original the same day!

http://digg.com/programming/Python_Programming_for_Beginners_2 - asterisk816, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The reason it just takes content from other sites, is that it's giving you an easily-accessible grab bag, like pixel2life.com
You submit tutorials, they get accepted, people don't have to find thousands of sites to find tutorials, just bookmark this one. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Looks more like Linux than Unix to me...
- digitalrift, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0meh, I've never seen it before, so it's news to me. Once I get a half-decent box slapped together, a lot of these tutorials could come in handy when it comes to brushing up a linux skillsets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1yo sup?
GNU is not unix, Unix is not Gnu, Unix is not linux, linux is not unix, linux is gnu? :D
happy new year campers +__+ - aragon127, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4How did this make it to the front page without being called "Ultimate List of Ubuntu Tutorials"?

What is Digg?
