- nadadingsda, on 06/01/2009, -0/+16Good news. I'm waiting with purchasing a netbook until I can buy one that comes preloaded with Moblin, or something derived from Moblin. Moblin is a really exciting project, I have been playing around with Clutter, the library the Moblin GUI is based on, it makes it really easy to create hardware accelerated (OpenGL) interactive applications, for a demo see here:

- BillGod, on 06/02/2009, -0/+6been using ubuntu remix on my netbook for 2 weeks now. I love it. Cool thing is you can attach your monitor and keyboard click on switch desktop modes under preferences and be running good ol Ubuntu. I highly recommend anyone to switch. Download the 900mb image file and image a flash drive. stick it in and run the installer. http://www.canonical.com/projects/ubuntu/unr
- AlesDigg, on 06/02/2009, -0/+5wow, almost too much good news at once
- ErichEirhead, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2Ya... As much as I hate Ubuntu, if I wanted to cheap out and buy a netbook for just email and web-surfing, I would probably load this up on it. I only dislike Ubuntu because I rely heavily on software that simply isn't matched by the "open source movement" and yes, I've tried the alternatives.
But I absolutely loathe netbooks, keyboards are too small, not enough real-estate on the screen, annoying trackpads (I could never go back from a multi-touch trackpad on my macbook), and I've seen my company buy 7 netbooks, 4 of which are broken now, only 3 months later. - chubbstar, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2wow. i was just about to install moblin to replace my easy peasy out of curiosity. now im REAAAALLY curious.
- spikeb, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2interesting, yet worrisome because it'd be nice to see the UNR interface stay around.
- streetdaddy, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1Sounds great to me because I never managed to get the Moblin test drive going on my eeepc 1000HD. Looking forward to something more complete and stable because the UI looks very well thought out in the video's I've watched.
- WildTang3nt, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1Did you read the article? Because it states right in it that the Moblin/UNR hybrid will use the UNR interface instead of Moblin's.
- badot, on 10/09/2009, -0/+1Nice info, I'm an ubuntu lover...
