- BionicBeefpile, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24You could always untick the little "Linux/Unix" box via "Add or Remove Topics". Takes much less time than posting a comment about how little you like Ubuntu, I believe.
- carpespasm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12stop spamming.

Get jobs here http://www.ubuntu.com/employment - mDot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11While I don't agree with you, I do think Digg should add a filter to allow users who don't want to hear about certain news to ignore that news.
That way those of us who do like reading the news don't have to wade through you bitching about it. - ubuntudemon, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Here's Mark Shuttleworths blog post about this :

i "know" Bruno from the Podcast ( http://www.lugradio.org/ ). - watch out - the explicit-Tag for this should be 10 meters high : most sentences includes some kind of swearing -- aka : a great show ! - stylesP, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8its news - ignore it if you dont like it
- gjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well I'll wish Jono congratulations and good luck even if noone else wants to!
- paerez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The only thing ubuntu was lacking was bacon. Now they have achieved perfection.
- kubudubudubuntu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5NOBODY'S COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR WINDOWS MARKETING AND NEWS CRAP THAT WE HAVE TO READ ABOUT EVERY DAY!!!
"oh noes, ubuntu's getting some attention, id better troll about it" - stylesP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/2310
"Instead of that, I made this script, you can add and remove keywords from article titles you never want to see. Though, it tells you how many articles it’s hiding, and gives you an option to see them, just incase you think you are missing somthing."
for the greasemonkey users - dont know it it works with opera - Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wanna know what bugs me more than stories about Ubuntu? People who complain about stories about Ubuntu.
(And I'm actually not bugged at all by Ubuntu stories.) - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Does this guy work for free? How do they make any money?
People have been known to say "You get what you pay for." - jrsims, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good call. Jono's the right man for the job.
Check out his LUGRadio podcast - http://www.lugradio.org
(BTW, LUG = Linux User Group) - fonz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I met Jono when he spoke at SCALE 4x (http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/past/2006/speakers/speakers_bacon.php) earlier this year. Couldn't think of a better person for the job.
- bepe86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perfect man for the job - after all, he does drink it in the Congo, every day ;)
- Stemp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well if you are a Windows user, are you always on Microsoft site ?
- fantomonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Ubuntu is cool.
Too bad Digg swarm & stack doesn't work on linux tho. - curupira, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@stylesP
Great! I can now remove all articles with the words "amazing"! - Stemp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@fantomonkey, if you can't live without the latest Flash & Shockwave players, just install wine and then firefox for Windows (or even IE4Linux)
- stylesP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://www.harold.liberty-host.com/digg_lab_method/index.html
It does kinda - Technopundit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Man, I've worked for chep companies before, but can't imagine what it would be like to work for a place that can't even charge people for their products.
- fantomonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Ah cool thanks for that. The whole Flash Player/ Shockwave player is the only thing keeping me from using *nix 100% of the time.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3It doesn't matter if it's interesting or not! It's about Ubuntu!
The topic: "Ed Brasky, Ubuntu user, buys taco at local Tacos!Tacos!Tacos! store" could easily get 3,000 diggs here. - sc0ri0n, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I was thinking the same thing but I guess got used to it. I can't imagine anyone using ubuntu and now knowing the meaning. How can you miss it on Ubuntu site?
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Explain to me what aspects of Ubuntu make is "cooler" than any other distro.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4get use to it, ubuntu is going to rule the earth
- becominglumberg, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4I certainly think Ubuntu has gotten a ridiculous amount of press - some of it nonsense, some of it well deserved. Ubuntu deserves this press - they have packages Linux into the most appealing case for the common user to switch i have seen to date.
Because of this, I think that Linux/Unix could do well to have an Ubuntu sub-header, since it is currently taking a lion's share of Linux news.
Ultimately, I doubt Mark Shuttleworth has treatened to beat you up if you don't click on his article, so why not just surf away from what offends you so much?
Further, I think mDot is right, Digg should probably implement a filter by which you can filter stories you don't want to ever see. I imagine (sadly, based on your spelling/grammar) that you are in no way a Linux user, nor have any interest in becoming one. Thus, simply suppressing the Linux/Unix subcategory should be sufficient. - happyhappyhappy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0While I use Ubuntu at home and at work, and it is indeed wonderful, this story is hardly interesting news.
- f4k3n4m3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0*yawns* and burys story
- f4k3n4m3, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1 *yawns* and burys story.
*News just in someone else downloads (K) (X) ubuntu. - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Didn't even read the article but man DUGG cuz it says Ubuntu in the title. [/sarcasm]
- DrPh0bius, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0@ Molly
You had -2 when I looked, but I gave you a Digg, because you are corrct, that was pwnage of the purest kind. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1pwnt
- RyanChappell, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1If it is digg related. I really don't see it as spamming!
Anyway it was a duplicate story. It was a good exercise in the futility of getting a story to the front page. If I had kept this up it could have gotten it to the front page, but it was quite a struggle. Where as, the Snakes on a Plane game story and the original below were automatic front page because the right people dugg them.
http://www.digg.com/movies/Get_a_call_from_Samuel_L_Jackson
While I think digg is the best site on the net, I do see an opportunity for improving it grasp of stories, somehow. If the average Joe can atleast have a chance at a front story then something is wrong. - 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -16/+1If I managed Ubuntu, I'd change the name.
I don't what it means, or where it's from.
It's too long, maybe something like Uuuu. - 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1I must be dugged down for poor syntax.
For not using the word "know".
Tis the way of Uuuu - bobbourland, on 10/12/2007, -20/+2I blogged about this here:
http://www.*****.org/heytheyjusthiredanewmanageratmyoffice/irrelevantinfo.nodigg - rezendes, on 10/12/2007, -34/+4enuf about ubuntu holy crap... every little thing about ubuntu isn't worthy of the front page... I guess I am the only one that feels this way.. but I'm tired of seeing ubuntu filling up the front page always...
