"How-To : Compile from Source, Install and use TuxPaint, Rip a DVD with AcidRip and Create Your Own Server Part 2"
Why does it make me sad that people using Linux need to learn how to compile from source? That used to be practically a prerequisite for using the OS. *Sigh* I guess I miss the days where using Linux meant I was somehow "better" than the Microsoft guys.
Thank you Ubuntu for bringing Linux to the masses, but could you add some new cryptic features that only a tech-nerd knows how to use? Thanks. :) - troydoogle7, on 03/03/2008, -1/+3It useful for people who don't visit digg all the time to keep up to date on things not windows and not apple. The newsletters are the quickest way. Thanks guys!
+digg - sirhomer, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Ubuntu is not a 1337 OS by any means. At this point if you can't or don't put enough effort to figure out simple tutorials maybe you need to reassess your "techie" status.
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -1/+1side notes about ubuntu in general:
i tried it out for a month or two just to play with it.
1) my biggest complaint was that a ton of solutions were "o, you have to do that in WINE".
2) every tutorial assumed you wrote half of ubuntu and understood all of its inner-workings. i need tutorials that start at step one, not step 6. i gave up, back to windows
i'm pretty techy, but half of the stuff was over my head. if you want to be an "1337 OS", fine - stay that way. if you want to be generally accepted and have people be happy they picked you instead of windows to save $100, make it not take a week to install my network card. anyway, overall very impressed, but just a few things killed it for me - weizbox, on 03/03/2008, -3/+1'a lot of news I didn't know about'
it couldn't have been all too much, you already dugg and commented on the 'Ubuntu Brainstorm Launched!' and 'Introducing Ubuntu Mobile - full Internet, no compromise' articles... you've gotta know whats going on in the world of Ubuntu already to some extent, prior to the newsletter. Please do not feed the ad bots, thank you :) - brettalton, on 03/03/2008, -4/+1That's a lot of news I didn't know about, thanks.

I think we all know where to go in order to see the Newsletter, thanks tho :)
