- weizbox, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2Why not just use a lighter distro, like Xubuntu? Fluxbox might be hard for a lot of people to get used to as well... it's a big change from a Gnome/Xfce-like environment.
Ubuntu is being pushed as the easy-to-install and 'just works' distro... and by doing all these steps, your kinda taking all of that away. If you really want a light desktop, check out other distros that are made for it, and you'll probably end up with some better results, as well as better control over your packages than what you get with Ubuntu.
