- Gryffydd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+53Next time you fall overboard into the water I'll make sure to throw you a question mark.
- scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34Here's an idea: how about a damn QUESTION MARK for "help" instead of a stripey circle?
- sirdaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28not really
- jambamkin, on 10/12/2007, -18/+43I can't see the screenshot without being registered with ubuntu forums. no digg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Here's another idea: why is there a help button on the toolbar? Is the help menu not good enough?
- Subcranium, on 10/12/2007, -11/+30Was anyone else expecting to see the icons to be photos of real people?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Toolbars are so 1998.
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20@gryffydd - next time you need help with open office, I'll throw you a life saver, that should do the trick, huh?
- cryptoz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Why is he being dugg down? He's right to vote an article down when it isn't accessible to most people without registration.
- tfinniga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Maybe they're trying to be more sensitive to languages that don't use the question mark?
Doesn't really jive with the font size buttons, though.. - webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I was initially sceptical, but I'm a convert. As much as I like OOo, and as much as I used to use it, Office 2007 just feels better...
Thankfully Feisty got me back out of Windows... - macewan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Was anyone else expecting comments like this?
=) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20It's all about the Ribbon. Every program should adopt the Ribbon.
- quickgold192, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9really? i didn't know you were into ubuntu
- biggbrother, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Who gives a ***** if you prefer Office 2007? I like James Taylor music. That has nothing to do with this article.
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Why's he getting dugg down? He likes an MS product omg!!! I'm practically a linux fanboy, but when microsoft gets things right (for instance visual studio is the best IDE ever created) they deserve the credit. Now i've never used office 2007. But I can't say i'm incredibly impressed with open office, it does what i need it to do, nothing special, it doesn't do it incredibly well, but it's pretty much all i've ever used, i guess my point is it's not blashphemy that office 2007 might be a great office suite... so why digg him down?
- FlyingLlama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"===RELEASE NOTES FOR 0.3.1===
Improvements:
-Added many arrows"
YES!!! - nicku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Are those the same icons that AbiWord when run under Gnome? I think they are an improvement...
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I really like the the Tango theme done by Lokheed.
www.deviantart.com/deviation/38088601/?qo=10&q=by%3Alokheed&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps - macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That really kicks ass. Nice work to the person(s) that spent the time doing that.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's the Ubuntu default for some reason. At least it's a life preserver, so it's related in some way to help, unlike a 'stripy circle.'
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Looks nice, but plain ol' Tango would have been better.
- munchkinguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hello from the person (me) assembled the icon set!
jimmygoon: It's okay, I'm not offended.
scabbers: I have labeled this as a 0.3.1 release, so it isn't perfect. That being said, I think you will find that in the next release, there will be significantly fewer life-preservers.
PS: It seems kind of strange giving myself a +1 digg. Is there a way to make it neutral? - stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4See my comment a few up :).
- rkhrkh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just about all of the toolbar options are configurable. I just installed these icons-and yes, they do look nice in an Ubuntu install-and I don't have a lifesaver. If I wanted it I would go to View-Toolbars-whateveritis.
I have been using openoffice for regular work for a little over two years. I have been using Ubuntu as my office OS for about a year now -and Mepis for a couple of months before that. One of the reasons that I have made these choices is because I can run stuff the way that I want too. A big reason that I have chosen openoffice over is that, even if MS's product is "truly the best Office suite ever made!" there is no way that it is $399 better than openoffice. - ziadoz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone fancy uploading them to a mirror, the bandwidth on the guys website has been exceeded.
- CoaxVex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think you can also get it from deviantart? www.deviantart.com/deviation/38088601/?qo=10&q=by%3Alokheed&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I second that. For me, ran in convergence mode on parallels.
- nayr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3nahh, ubuntu + vmware = bliss. Too bad we can't kick windows out of the equation :(
wine is too much of a pain in the ass. - CoaxVex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, my bad. It's a different one.
- kethraal, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7"It is truly the best Office suite ever made!"
To be fair, MS did leave themselves a hell of a lot of room for improvement.... always have. - munchkinguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mandatory upgrade release: http://librarian.launchpad.net/6528993/images_industrial.zip
- KnytFyre, on 10/12/2007, -13/+13thanks for the mirror kettlechips
- munchkinguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can now download them at http://librarian.launchpad.net/6492033/images_industrial.zip
- Thugacation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do the icons look in KDE?
- se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1These icons are nothing special...
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -18/+15Yes, I was. I was really disappointed, but then again I don't know much about Ubuntu...I'm not into Pokemon...
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Sweet looks very good, I am going to implement this one.
- orlfman, on 10/12/2007, -15/+11I use to use OpenOffice until Microsoft Office 2007 came out. I picked up Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition and I totally love it. They improved it so much! It is truly the best Office suite ever made!
- dirken, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0It's not bad at all, you'll never hear me say that but my opinion is that OpenOffice.org hasn't such a bad layout. Allright, the 3 most right icons for marking text, chainging text color and marking the background are much better. But all others are understandable the way they are standard so you'll never see me using this!
