- GMoney79, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28Ubuntu rules, and this Ubuntu Customization Kit (UCK) looks cool.
I think they should call it the "Free Ubuntu Customization Kit".
A better acronym is what this software package needs. - bieber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15It's a hacker thing. You may take away our command line and our non-shiny buttons, but you can pry our recursive acronyms from our cold, dead fingers.
- thund3rstruck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Why are you bothering to comment if you dislike Ubuntu? Do you have nothing better to do?
I dislike politics, and as such I don't read the headlines in the political category. Get a life man... ... - Darkness123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15http://duggmirror.com/linux_unix/Ubuntu_Customization_Kit
- OperatorNo9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Contrary to your contrary dispositions, jerks, This kit is very useful. Not for making a LOST version either. A buddy of mine wanted to run an office on one Windows Server and a bunch of PCs with no hard drives that boot to a stripped down Linux OS that runs Remote Desktop Connection on boot. This will help him realize his dream.
I can think of about 10 different reasons, along those lines, to customize a Linux distro.
What exactly is your problem with a Linux distro getting popular and people getting excited about it? - Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10MY WISH HAS COME TRUE! I've been using PCLOS to quickly build small live CDs to pass out, but this... this is great!
- bytemynd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8cool, I'm gonna go F.U.C.K my ubuntu right now!
- Llan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"The fact that every article with the word UBUNTU in the heading gets an automatic boost to the front page, regardless of whether or not its really useless.
Jerk."
I'm sorry, we will consult Your Royal Highness before deciding what we feeble worms think is useful next time. Because only Your Royal Highness can decide what is useful and what not, and only Your royal Highness may decide to delete articles that 590 so far liked. - trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"If you're pissed at me and you digg me DOWN, then you better digg down the Ubuntu posts, too)"
OK then, I'll just block you intead. bye :) - theonlyvlad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7c'mon guys! this is digg after all, ubuntu's just trying to compete with apple for the frontpage
- fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9I really do think Ubuntu should get it's own section. That would help those who want ubuntu-related topics as well as though who don't.
- roostishaw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6An (almost) direct download... http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/uck/uck-1.1.tgz?use_mirror=umn
- benplaut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4don't double post.
www.qunu.com - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3is there a mirror for the kit itself?
woops i see the link below that roostishaw posted, so nm :-D - Neg127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Some might also be interested in http://www.linux-live.org
You can make a live cd from about any distro wth a little work. This is the set of scripts the slax project uses. - DubbleA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To me this sounds like the MySLAX Creator for making your own "custom" SLAX Live Cd's; only for Ubuntu. I hope it works the same, because MySLAX is great and I love the Interface!
If you want MySLAX, you can find it here:
http://myslax.bonsonno.org/
But first, you gotta get SLAX!:

*590 sheep so far liked. - xiangxianni, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Don't know if it can work in ubuntu 8.10. Welcome to Tips5

- Iandefor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Welcome to the second grade.
- captjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@bieber
I have no problem with recursive acronyms. I also know about the hacker culture (the REAL hacker culture, not the dark, evil lawbreaking script kiddies, but the master programmers and engineers who love pushing the envelope on insanely great projects) and the inane love of wordplay.
But come on GIMP? it sounds like a bondage freak from Pulp Fiction . Or LAME? It is a lame name for a cool encoder. Why not Free Awesome MP3 Encoder (FAME) instead? And UCK? Uck is something you say when you see something disgusting (like Goatse). UCK is not disgusting. It is an awesome. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3SFG = Search Fuking Google
- Pakman20, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yeah, that's what I thought. But Slax is a Live CD OS, and Ubuntu is a desktop version.
Use Slax!!! - bytemynd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4heh, yeah, because that's how it works.
- keitho, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2damn! i was going to post that!
- iresh, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1How can I Install Macromedia Flash,Dreamweaver, and Adobe Photoshop in Ubuntu ???
- jfox00, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I think we need a new category under the Digg Technology section called "Ubuntu - another feature I just learned about and everyone will digg 'cause ubuntu is the linux flavor of the month"
- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2"What exactly is your problem with a Linux distro getting popular and people getting excited about it?"
The fact that every article with the word UBUNTU in the heading gets an automatic boost to the front page, regardless of whether or not its really useless.
Jerk. - iresh, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Hi Guys,
I am a Web Designer, I use Flash,Dreamweaver,Photoshop etc, I really like Ubuntu, its free and fun, but do you know a method to install Flash,Dreamweaver,Photoshop in Ubuntu ??? - captjc, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Sweet custom distro creation. I've been wanting to do this for a while but I am too lazy to figure out how. I can't wait to try it.
//seriously, the Linux developers need people to think up better acronyms... Some are just bad names on great programs (UCK, The GIMP, and LAME just to name a few). - CypherXero, on 10/12/2007, -32/+8OMG Ubuntu!!!!!oneone111
(I'm going to keep posting that on every Ubuntu post until this Ubuntu madness stops. If you're pissed at me and you digg me DOWN, then you better digg down the Ubuntu posts, too) - seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -33/+6Thats why he made the :| face, like he wasnt interested... dumbass.
- davidirock, on 10/12/2007, -39/+7Yes, more Ubuntu, we need more Ubuntu! Where have you been man. Digg should have a whole Ubuntu section. We need Linux/unix and then another category next to it "ubuntu and it's friends." That's WHAT WE NEED MY FRIEND.
Oh, and we need this to customize linux distros. I want myne to start up with pretty pictures.
And I want it on bit torrent. I'll lable it "Ubuntu-the lost verison 6.06.0012" Look for me on the Pirate Bay. - CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -44/+11Yay more Ubuntu :|
