"4. joke
so michael jackson is on his private plane...and he's in the back with a bunch of little boys. So all of a sudden the pilot runs back to where michael is and he's like, "michael! theres a problem with the plane! come to to cockpit!"
So michaels in the cockpit and the pilot tells him to get on a parachute because they're going to jump. And michael jackson says, "but what about the boys?!" and the pilot goes, "***** the boys!" and michael goes...
"you think we have time??"" - sugarbearcsa, on 02/14/2008, -1/+23Redwood City is not soCal. It about 20 minutes from san francisco and San jose.

1. something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or a prankish act: He tells very funny jokes. She played a joke on him. - iofthestorm, on 02/14/2008, -0/+18Canonical is the company behind Ubuntu...
- hardran3, on 02/14/2008, -0/+16That google search box in firefox is worth millions of dollars.
- calpaully, on 02/14/2008, -1/+16Ever notice how when you install Firefox, the default start page and search box both use Google? Google pays for that placement, and the more of a market share Firefox gets, the more Google will pay.
- GLMonkey, on 02/14/2008, -0/+15They can graffiti it all they want, it is an Open Source Billboard which can be changed by anyone.
- aurrea, on 02/14/2008, -2/+14I finally jumped on the Ubuntu bandwagon this past weekend. Even after being blitzed with information for the past 2 years on Digg about linux I finally got the courage to install it. I was always under the impression NOTHING worked (drivers etc). I didn't have a single problem with installing it on my Dell.
"Wow"... is the best way to describe it.
That's all... just wanted everyone to know I'm a fan now... can I be in the club now? - synthox, on 02/14/2008, -1/+13Who said anything about a browser?
- inactive, on 02/14/2008, -0/+11Same, although Linux Mint (which is based entirely on Ubuntu)
- russianbandit, on 02/14/2008, -13/+23I think the "graffiti" is part of the ad.
- brownspank, on 02/14/2008, -2/+11The freedom of choice doesn't always favor Linux.
- james.mattson, on 02/14/2008, -1/+10boo clearchannel. i'm sorry but it's all I can see on those billboards, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.

- bsonline, on 02/14/2008, -3/+11Props to everyone that buried me for expressing a freedom of choice. Sorry I am using the OS that works for me, and not the one that works for you...
For the record, I had a few problems. I do a lot of work with office... and office 2k7 is just better, for me, right now. I'm a teacher, and I do a lot of presentations.
I have an ATI x1600. The standard open source dirvers wouldn't allow it to run Compiz Fusion. The proprietary drivers wouldn't install. I spent three days using different sets of instructions to fix said problem... which all seemed to lead back to xorg.conf. Still no love.
I play a game over the network with my nephew... but my laptop is in the shop and this left me with only 1 Windows based PC...
I am going to start playing Witcher, didn't work with Wine.
Fortunately, the linux community is a lot better than the asshats here that only gaf if you are a lemming right behind them. So, you know, I'll give linux another try down the road. I'm not a lemming... with Windows or otherwise. I simply make the decisions I feel are in my best interests.
One little note... Vista runs a lot better and is a ton more stable, even with Aero effects. So far, it seems to be pretty secure... hardware firewall, disabled the annoying parts. It gives me more options, and it works without me have to work at it. Why the hell should anyone care what I use? If windows crashes (it hasn't with vista, with me, yet) then it gets complained about like it's satan. Linux crashes (did last night, was the last straw) and we just don't talk about that.
/rant - Hellothere123, on 02/14/2008, -1/+9Maybe he use programs that only works on Windows. Windows shouldn't be thought of as a drug compared to Linux, they both have pros and cons.
- Elamen, on 02/14/2008, -1/+9wine is not an emulator, and it doesn't allow you to use everything.

nope its about some ubuntu billboard OMGWALLHAX - inactive, on 02/14/2008, -1/+6but sf and sj aren't in southern california either... (about 5 or 6 hours away from LA)
- AzureRise, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5They're advertising it because they like it? Just throwing an idea out there.
- remotehuman, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5same here, just switched my laptop from XP to ubuntu and never looking back, so now im OS X and linux :D
- cigawoot, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5Because Google sponsors the Firefox project.
- sandpaperback, on 02/15/2008, -1/+6Not that IE is my first choice of browser (I can't install software at work), but forcing me to use a different browser is arrogant and ultimately pointless. I would assume that more people would just not visit your site than switch browser.
- recover82, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5get a *****' MAP!
The point he's making isn't about the "travel time" from San Jose, it's the point that San Jose and SF are NOT IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA! - thecheatah, on 02/14/2008, -7/+11I don't understand why you wrote that statement. The above statement is as follows:
I quit smoking, and I am no longer dependent on it!
What you said:
I stopped smoking for a day and now I am going back!
See the person above accomplished something. What you are saying absolutely nothing. We all know switching away from windows is hard. We all know that there are some people who SWEAR windows owns. But right now, this article is about learning to break away from bad habits.
Basically what I am trying to say is (Unless you are asking for help): No one cares that you couldn't switch. - rekleiner, on 02/14/2008, -1/+5lmao. I haven't had a geek laugh like that in months. good one.

- sirhomer, on 02/15/2008, -0/+3I tried to bury you but my autodigger sensed the word "Ubuntu" in your post and automatically digged you up. Damn it!
(Just kidding Digg admins.) - ngmcs8203, on 02/14/2008, -1/+425 minutes from San Jose to Woodside road. Maybe 30 minutes from Redwood City to Pac Bell Park. 20 minutes isn't unrealistic.
- fukawi2, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3Canonical is to Ubuntu what Microsoft is to Windows.
- furui, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3This is right after the Redwood Shores exit off 101N in Redwood City near Electronic Arts and Oracle. Redwood City is not in Southern California as others have mentioned. There are a lot of silly billboards lined up here, such as the Jeeves algorithm ones that never really took off, and there is a really bright LED billboard going southbound that advertises Symantec security software and other computer house-hold crap.
- fxu1989, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3*WHOOSH*
- KibibyteBrain, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3Now, if for example, someone spray painted a chair flying through the air of a modest, rocky mountain office in the empty space, you'd probably know it wasn't exactly a message endorsed by ubuntu supporters.
Now heres a cool idea for 2008: an electronic billboard for Ubuntu that runs Ubuntu... - node3, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3The best part about using Ubuntu to run the Ubuntu electronic billboard is you only need brown/brown-orange bulbs.
- nouse66, on 02/14/2008, -1/+3i always heard it meant: this year's packages.... available this year.
