- hongy_r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24wow! thank you! that has cleared all my concerns about linux right up.
- pwhalen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Wow this Kernel has allot more than 11 herbs and spices
- rahulb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Ok its a nice attempt to provide loads of info using images, but wouldn't a tree-lke structure with brief introductions be better? You have to zoom the whole thing to maximum for it to be readable. Else its just a complex graphic.
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17It's so purdy! The windows kernal would look like the back of my desk! :-)
- skifreak107, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I want a full hi-res version of it :(
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15HEY! ...................... you talkin bout my chicken?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15See? That's why I leave programming to the programmers. Woah! Much respect to those kernel developers.
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14My head hurts. :(

} - Sithload, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17rahulb, I think you're probably correct. I think iSlayer was being a little sarcastic when he called it an "easy to follow flowchart". Correct me if I'm wrong, iSlayer, but it's total information overload in that format.
Then again, modern operating systems are complex. Maybe that that Linux model IS easy to follow compared with what XP or Vista would look like mapped out. Scary thought. I hope iSlayer's headline was tongue-in-cheek! - sbrown123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13@craftyguy - '***** anyone?'
No thank you, I'll pass. Try Craigslist if you're lonely. - bmirks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15while(kernelmaphuge==true)

} - ntufar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Don't be discouraged, folks. Most of it are device drivers. The core functionality is maybe 5% of the kernel code.
- sdubois92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9looks confusing, but organized
- jshadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Needs more web 2.0
- zumpiez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I laughed so hard. Thank you. ^_^
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@crafty: nah....at least it makes a nice little circle.
Digg++. High-res image would also be nice! - tuartboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"...a more understandable manor."
Like this: http://www.beauharnais.sk/images/Harlaxton%20Manor%207.jpg ??? - olegk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i wish I could print it on a huge piece of paper and make a wallpaper out of it

;-) - synth7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Crazy. Interesting, but crazy.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5interesting.. someone doesn't have enough time on their hands, or are pissed off at something/someone.
- raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You know what else would be nice? A very large print.
- darkyoshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Windows Vista Kernel Map:
http://uploadplus.com/quickupload/65.jpg - eantoranz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I wonder how MS could display Windoze kernel's diagram. Perhaps we'll have to wait for n-dimensional displays.... MESSY!!! ;-)
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6...so easy to follow that my face just fell to peices...
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Agreed, its like whoever made that didn't even try to make it worth anyones time. It seems like its simply there to say its there rather then to be useful to people.

The guy who created the code for this it seems. (the page submitted links to this one - http://lug.oregonstate.edu/index.php/Projects/Kernel_Poster
)
I want that poster. - MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks! Very interesting. Digg! :)
- linkinpark342, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Should i bother trying to figure out where it starts?
- foxxyzoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2thinkgeek used to sell a poster:

easy to follow my ass. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow thanks for the flow chart now I understand exactly how the linux kernel works!
nothing makes things easier to understand than a flow chart.
This would make a pretty damn cool poster albeit a very large one at that. - WhiskerTheMad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"You know what else would be nice? A very large print."
Thinkgeek.com used to have one for the 2.4-series kernel, printed on heavy cardstock. It's very nice at 4' x 6'. It was around $30, and if I remember correctly $5.00 of the purchase price went to the EFF.
Hopefully now they'll do the same for 2.6, so I can upgrade :) - chubbymidget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ohh yeah, now it makes sense. That problem I had the other day was the Curly-Q curves around to the left and but it should curve-down and to the right. Of course!
- TheSiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great idea. Horrible execution.
- satansbanjo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yup
In that case Tux must be Judas, and if you look to the left you've got the 'kill' command in the murderer's circle - Obsidian743, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, you guys are so cool and original.
- noflesh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very interesting, but someone needs to take this image and drop it into a googlemap-style viewer.
- freeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just download it, then you can print it yourself.
- LoathRevolver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2easy to follow flowchart? Hmmm.
- bmirks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i like it.. it reminds me of the daisy growing in my garden. soooo pretty.

- spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it'd be a cool t-shirt too.
- samstafford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is, without doubt, the fabled and unholy portal to the forgotten realm of Gael'thoth and the slumbering gods within.
