- darkchild, on 09/10/2008, -1/+81Not entirely surprising because CERN helps in the development of Scientific Linux which is an RHEL rebuild with some extras.

- slashcrisis, on 09/11/2008, -0/+47okay. you killed my server.
- libervisco, on 09/10/2008, -1/+47KDE 3.5.x is solid, which seems to be what they're using. :)
Cool stuff. - Stonekeeper, on 09/11/2008, -0/+45Large Hadron Kollider
Sorry, someone had to. - wilhoitm, on 09/11/2008, -6/+39Thank God they are not using Windows especially Vista!!!
- patpi, on 09/10/2008, -3/+33lol 10/10 :)
However KDE4.1 is rock solid for me ;] - zephyrxero, on 09/11/2008, -2/+29And bam! The servers have imploded into a black hole as soon as it reached the front page...

KDE all the way baby! - AWBoy666, on 09/11/2008, -0/+15And you made sure to make some mirrors, right?

- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+15.... or has it? Welcome to the other side. If you don't have a goatee, you're not the evil twin.
- jeffkee, on 09/11/2008, -4/+18If they were using Windows Vista it would bug up and create black holes and anti-matter explosions that kill us all.

- fatsobob, on 09/11/2008, -3/+14Well they must be doing something right. The LHC hasn't killed us yet!
- Jareth86, on 09/11/2008, -0/+11Apparently the LHC created a black hole that vaporized the site. Mirror?
- SimonGray, on 09/11/2008, -0/+11That just gives me an even larger hadron.

- mlssls, on 09/11/2008, -0/+8update: CERN is still using KDE for monitering the LHC experiments.
- iumentum, on 09/11/2008, -1/+9Poor comparison. KDE is far more than a "skin" for linux.
And I think the reason the headline is KDE-centric is because the screenshots didn't implicate what OS exactly was being employed. That the Desktop environment is KDE is certain, but it could very well be FreeBSD or even OpenSolaris underneath. Although information from other sources have now pointed to Scientific Linux as the likely scenario. - paradexes, on 09/11/2008, -1/+8LHC + Running Windows + Blue Screen Of Death = Black Hole.
- BlackAdderIII, on 09/11/2008, -1/+8Why comment on something you're indifferent to? Are you stupid?
- paradexes, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7LHC + Running Windows + Blue Screen = Black Hole.
- Stoyanov, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7No protons have collided yet, see you next month.
- Arkz, on 09/11/2008, -1/+8What's a Google?
- bobbknight, on 09/11/2008, -0/+7The LHC is running GNU/Linux, with KDE as the GUI, isn't that right RMS?
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -1/+8 Wow. I think i just ubered my geek credential that i actually got that pun.
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -1/+7"i wanna see them throw some ***** in it just for ***** and giggles"
Depending on how calculated, the LHC has so far cost between $4.49 and 8.97 billion dollars. I don't think the operators are going to throw a pile of fecal matter into the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator complex just because they think it would be funny. - rowjimmy, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6not only stupid, but proud of his ignorance! w0000t AMERICA FUG YEAH
- MicrosoftBob, on 09/11/2008, -0/+6It's a boot duel! XP vs Ubuntu!
