- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I prefer 2prong: http://2prong.com/
All you have to do is click the link. It'll automatically copy a temporary email address to you clipboard and automatically open the first email received.
Also, every week or so they use a difference domain name for the email address. Lots of sites have banned @mailinator.com email addresses, but that won't work with 2prong. - Zinxq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Mailinator is superior because you dont actually have to go to the site first. In fact thats the whole point. Think up the email, use it - THEN goto http://www.mailinator.com. Brilliantly simple.
- quentinmcalmott, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12What if I wanted what was in my clipboard? Visiting this site (just to look at it) has made me lose what I had.
- kiddailey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wow. That was one of the most interesting reads I've seen on Digg in a while and it satisfied my curiosity about Mailinator after having used it for years now. Too bad more and more websites are starting to disallow the use of Mailinator email addresses.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Good read. It's interesting that instead of just chucking hardware at a proplem he thought about what he was doing. nice work.
- an0nymous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I have always been curious what sort of logging he did.
From the article: Practically none.
Awesome. - Miniman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Azureus(yes), Apple(no), Microsoft(no), Symantec(Hell no)
- afsina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5where are the "java is slow" or "java is a resource hog" commenters?
- sparkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wonder if he got his job as a senior engineer at Google because of the good work he did with Mailinator
- sannm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5he listed several other sites that he made that offer the same service like fakedinfo.com
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@quentinmcalmott
Well I said in my previous post that it would automatically copy to your clipboard. So blame yourself for not reading properly. - volve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What are you referring to, specifically?
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That was really fascinating; shows how software should be written. I applaud thee.
Now, Azureus, Apple, Microsoft, Symantec, do you SEE how powerful low impact software can be? - AndrewNorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I couldn't help but laugh at his diagram. http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/1228/848/1600/694219/zzz1.jpg
Though I tip my hat to this guy for putting the service together in a unique way. - marcz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3'Java is slow'. 'Java is a resource hog'.
Happy? (Nothing is slow. It's the way you use it.) - Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"And by the way, 2 prong has been down for over a week, and is on it's way to new servers by the end of april."
It was only down for a couple days, its back now. - yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what is good about dodgeit?
- aboutblank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No one else thought it was funny. We just thought it was dumb.
- nam20485, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and what do you recommend?
- javaroast, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5What a perfectly irrelevant comment... Thanks for that
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its not about being anally organized, its what works well.
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Spamgourmet provides multiple domain names and also lets you think up the email address on the fly.
- michelrose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazing. Nothing particular, but still interesting for me.

http://www.paramegsoft.com/top_software.html - Laetiporus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Just read this at his site a few days ago. Sadly, i just tried to register an account here at Digg with my favorite mailinator addy, and lo and behold, it's blocked... Ha- Haaaaa.
It really is an amazing implementation of a very simple idea, no one has this down like him, yet.
And by the way, 2 prong has been down for over a week, and is on it's way to new servers by the end of april. - cotaskmemalloc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, yes it is about being "anally organized". Any decent software engineer will tell you that. Thats what "good architecture" means.
- gesturemaker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Splendid! Things never change.

- cotaskmemalloc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Just because it works well doesn't mean it is built well. I've worked on the source (as a project my last year of my undergrad CS degree at SUNY Oswego) and it is absolute trash. My favorite part of the source was the ridiculous number of global static variables under the title "Static Land".
- Jernej, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3big green spam machine?
- tehmoth, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4and imagine the lowered requirements he would have if he had thought of something other than java to program in.
- coffeepro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I use http://www.tempemail.net
- Phil246, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@quentinmcalmott , it can only overwrite your clipboard contents if you allow the flash element on the page to load.
If you are using something like flashblock this is prevented until you click on it - eprimetime, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Why is this guy getting dugg down? One of the funniest comments I've seen in a long time, commenting on something as spam, when the article is about an anti-spam service.
dumb-a**es - morrowc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+04m emails in a day on a 2ghz box... so 3.5m/day on a pIII 850 isn't doing too badly then?
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3The Australian government could use some help at the moment: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/communications/soa/WA_infrastructure_dept_close_to_e_mail_disaster/0,130061791,339274592,00.htm
