Sun beams Linux/Java at mobile phones

linuxdevices.com — Sun revealed at JavaOne today that it is developing a Linux- and Java-based operating system for mobile phones. "JavaFX Mobile" will compete with half a dozen flavors of mobile Linux, Windows Mobile, Symbian, RIM's Blackberry, and Apple's iPhone. It will available for license under the GPL.

  • schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Some have seen this coming (the Java phone or some recent acquisition), but they face a very crowded market. Java-on-Linux phones are already very popular (and inexpensive).
