- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Must... resist... obvious.. joke...
- raabco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11But then how am I going to buy Baltic Ave?!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Thank you for keeping up the stereotype that geeks never get laid. Remember, ladies need their computers fixed..and they might not have any money handy ;-)
- Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Hey man, a girl with a good sense of taste is a girl who loves Linux.
- justinjacobs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6sudo apt-get install baltic-ave-nonfree
Might not be completely legit, but it gets the job done. Just make sure you're using the monopoly repository. - colto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I'm gonna pay them in Ubuntu cds instead. That will piss 'em off for sure.
- Crowforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Give me back my small efficient operating system!
- etymxris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not at all a new idea. This was done with SCO (with monopoly money) when they started suing IBM.
- atrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Agreed.
You cant fight M$ by filling their mailbox.
The proper way to get back at them is to help out an open-source project. It can be as simple as writing documents, reporting small bugs, or helping improve the appearance or user interface (ideas only, not necessarily coding but giving suggestions) to projects that could use some help.
The way to get back at Microsoft is to get Linux to have better wifi support, a unified installer, and an improved GUI (Although thats come a long way now). If this could happen, Vista wouldn't stand a chance against Ubuntu. - burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So let's continue the tradition!
I would, but I don't want to spend the cost of a stamp on any endeavour related to Microsoft ;) - datagod, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Monopoly money...hehehe....I just got the joke!
Make sure you sneeze on the money, so they can see how dangerous those Linux viruses are... - kungfooguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I work on free software projects (even have a job, gasp!) and spend a lot more time doing that than I did making a blog post and sending some fake money.
Some of you lack the understanding of a protest. That is ok, its very complicated... The point is to show that we are listening and there are a lot of us willing to stand up for what we know is right. Simply writing free software is not enough if later someone comes in and tells you that you owe them money.
Tristan - diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sinner0423,
I do donate my time, and lots of it. It took me about 10 minutes to make this post, and only about 10 minutes to print out lots of monopoly money and send it on its way. I think the slight 20 minute investment is well worth the reaction it has gotten so far, in my humble opinion. - WZot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Indeed! I still got a mirror of that page at: http://emaginedev.biz/sco/ :)
- kungfooguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Eh, I can only handle one girlfriend. So I don't need to go out and meet anymore.
- diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think my gf would be pretty pissed if I went out and started meeting new girls..
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5This is stupid.
Donate your time and or money to any one of the several Open Source initiatives out there today, instead of wasting your time printing out board game money.
Diginux, get a job. - atezun, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4But all I have is Edna Krabopoly money!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6.....and this NOVELL stuff may help in the campaign. A side note will do:
http://openubuntu.blogspot.com/2006/11/best-linux-marketing-toolkit-unbending.html - vyoming, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Come one guys ... we know the ***** goes to any extent for money .. whats the point in making multiple entries on digg
- dimension128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@burke
Yea and don't even mention the "Total cost of ownership" issues that come along with postage stamps.. - samoht625, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it's ballmer
- diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This can be productive if enough people do it and raise awareness. The only way things get changed is by awareness. We aren't going to get Steve Ballmer to change his mind by asking kindly, there needs to a public stigma in order to do it.
- Visk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Balmer makes Microsoft look ten times worse than what it already is...
- diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think that is part of the trouble. They won't claim what they have ownership on. Just that they do.
- ripzone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1:D omg...!
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@miznig
That's exactly what it is. What the hell else would "Send Steve Balmer Monopoly Money" mean? RTFA, R-Tard.
@diginux
Yes, but there is already public stigma associated with what he has said. It's all the buzz in the tech news, and I'm almost certain that Steve Ballmer at least skims the tech headlines every morning. I'm sure he knows he isn't the most popular guy in the industry right now. - diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0samoht625,
You are absolutely right, I apologize. I wish I could edit the digg post. - diginux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0etymxris,
I didn't remember it being done before. But then again, I don't think anyone ever claimed it was a new idea, just a good, easy idea to draw attention to the hilarity of the situation. - NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1A rip-off of something else? That sounds just like Linux, it'll be perfect!
/joke - insinuate, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4What a great idea...I'll print out a few $500s and stick in the mail right away.
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Maybe we could try doing something productive? No? Okay... lets send Monopoly money to a guy that in all probability has his company mail filtered and won't ever see this crap.
- ThisIsSteve, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1THIS IS RETARDED
- Crowforge, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Somebody find out what it is and rewite it, if it from microsoft anyone could probably do a better jorb
- goat77, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5I'm a Microsoft guy, and I find this clever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1it's not monopoly money as in the board game money you R-Tard.
- Domestiques, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1hey whats say you all get out and meet girls!

What is Digg?
