- theeldest, on 04/09/2008, -5/+57Ah Ha! I've got a new homework excuse:
"Johnny, I didn't get your homework assignment"
"I e-mailed to you, Mrs. Streptapus, it must have gotten stuck in a Black Hole"
;) - gavin422, on 04/09/2008, -4/+47Website got eaten by a black hole.
Actually, you should probably just digg me down, because not only has this joke been made twice already, I'm sure there will be at least fifty other diggers after me making this oh-so-witty remark. I don't want to be included with them and I pretty much wish I could just delete my comment. - fazik93, on 04/09/2008, -5/+45digg effect causes black holes
- Goonder, on 04/09/2008, -2/+33The actual research project, minus the commentary: http://hubble.cs.washington.edu/
- mark076h, on 04/09/2008, -6/+25Digg is a black hole generator
- MousouMachine, on 04/09/2008, -5/+20my computer can't load it, it might have been sucked into the black hole :[
- smoothmedia, on 04/09/2008, -11/+26Lil Kim is the only proof I've ever needed that Black Holes exist.
- jer2eydevil88, on 04/09/2008, -0/+12In its own way your comment pretty much explains why everyone goes out of their way to post something obvious and witty and why no one posts enlightening or interesting information on here any more. Now if we could only roll back digg to before the 4chan/LOL Cat invasion occurred.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -5/+16I knew a hooker once and her name was....never mind.
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -2/+10pathetic losers that feel like they must invent a new term to sound cool to compensate.
"black holes". not only it's confusing for relating to an astrophysics venue it's also completely inaccurate and indeed unneeded since the issues covered are already categorized. - cyclades, on 04/09/2008, -2/+9Makes a change from all the pink and brown holes littered all over the web.
- unknamed, on 04/09/2008, -0/+7Ohhhh, reverse psychology huh? Tell me to digg you down because you don't want your comment to be seen so I'll, of course, digg you up just to be obnoxious. That is sheer genius.
And the more I get dugg down the more I'll know I'm right... unless I'm just saying that to get people to digg me up (or am I?). - tehsuck1, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6Just send them a jpeg of goatse
- dbzer0, on 04/09/2008, -5/+10Site already down? Must have fallen into a black hole...
- Stradenko, on 04/09/2008, -1/+5Perhaps the down-digger wasn't his bro, guy.
- stix213, on 04/09/2008, -0/+4Actually this is definition #2 on your list.
An article on the topic of websites being inaccessible is expected to be accessible, but ironically is not.
Whether the article appeared on Digg's front page is irrelevant, as the irony poleag speaks of has to do with the article's content, not its placement. - MxM111, on 04/09/2008, -1/+5Why is this topic under Linux/Unix? I guess Windows//Macs are immune to the problem!
- webcrumb, on 04/09/2008, -0/+4Would a .jpg renamed to a .doc do the job?
- adwarereport, on 04/09/2008, -0/+4Hey, this website fell into a black hole!
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -6/+10This is the definition of irony.
- SilverhammerMBA, on 04/09/2008, -0/+4Jesus christ, Digg. This was on the front page earlier this morning! I can understand reposting stories from a month or so ago - that's an honest mistake. But seriously...
- llkk33vv11nn, on 04/09/2008, -2/+6It's a conspiracy bro.
- replaysMike, on 04/09/2008, -0/+3It's not black holes, it's Digg. Digg is the primary cause of downed networks, servers on fire, and aging marks on network admin's foreheads. I mean, it even happened to this article.
- rouzier, on 04/09/2008, -0/+3Is a rick roll
- expert01, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3while ($comment['contents'] == "digg causes black holes" || $comment['contents'] == "duplicate") {
$comment['contents'] = "";
bury_comment($comment['id'])'
} - Ajnag, on 04/09/2008, -0/+3pwned
- xspinkickx, on 04/09/2008, -0/+3umm why is this under linux/unix??
- cyclades, on 04/09/2008, -1/+4Wow, some anal retentive actually dugg down a porn reference? lol!
Boobies, boobies, pussy, *****, piss, donkey! - ohemsted, on 04/09/2008, -4/+7It seems to have fallen into the black hole itself...
- Shaymus22, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2It's Comcastic!
- sotopheavy, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2It's the Large Hadron Collider @ CERN!
- rebo2, on 04/09/2008, -2/+4Already posted today. Dugg down.
- habbofresh, on 04/09/2008, -4/+6didn't I just see this article?
also in before black tube. - abid8740, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2I told them not to divide by 0
- Stradenko, on 04/09/2008, -2/+4No, these are the definitions of irony:
irony
n
1: witty language used to convey insults or scorn
2: incongruity between what might be expected and what actually
occurs.
3: a trope that involves incongruity between what is expected
and what occurs.
A web server failing after hitting Digg's front page is pretty much the opposite of irony. - captmorgan555, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2Internet Black Holes... seriously? This is just an internet monitor. Basically does the same thing as http://www.internettrafficreport.com/
- inactive, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2You'd think they would have predicted this...
- Sharky35, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2IT'S A TRAP!
- tomis, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2Self-fulfilling prophecy?
- CannedMango, on 04/09/2008, -0/+2More succinctly, if you can see this image, you aren't in one.
- ramsinks.com, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1It's Skynet
- Goose31, on 04/09/2008, -0/+1Perhaps he wasn't your guy, buddy.
- theeldest, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Actually I've done this a few times. Find a file (binary. not image or text) that is about the size your paper should be. Then you e-mail it to the prof.
They send you a reply saying that it doesn't open and you have until the next time you would reasonably check your e-mail to send the real file.
I try to never use it more than once per professor, though, as that could be suspicious. - inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1neaT!
- jellygraph, on 04/09/2008, -0/+1what do you think runs the internet backbone and a majority of servers?
- xspinkickx, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Plan 9
Seriously though I understand most of the internet runs on linux and bsd machines but umm... again this about the internet not unix and or unix like OS's. - inactive, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1way to go cern.
- jloutey, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I'm not your guy friend.... aw *****
- jloutey, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I really expect to see something relating to quantum mechanics, and partially still expect to see a higher brow version of this article that actually discusses quantum singularities. but for now I'll just digg down as inaccurate.
- brettalton, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1So aren't these people or servers just using moblock, peerguardian or IPblocker? They usually block government, spyware and education organizations... and where is this project from? A .edu? Huh.
