- ileftfark, on 07/09/2008, -10/+334I've been raped by ext3 a few times.
I still go back. - sdrawkcabton88, on 07/09/2008, -3/+218http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparis ...
- specialK16, on 07/09/2008, -9/+197But seriously funny nevertheless.
- oilcan, on 07/09/2008, -5/+160nah dude. actually murdering your wife is incredibly poor taste. this is only slightly bad taste in comparison.
- machocheese34, on 07/09/2008, -11/+136wikipedia is never wrong
- mentat0, on 07/09/2008, -92/+209Incredibly poor taste.

- Abnovitas, on 07/09/2008, -2/+95He simply killed his wife, because whe was getting FAT.
- trafficlight, on 07/09/2008, -5/+98The best kinds of jokes are tasteless.
- inactive, on 08/11/2008, -3/+84Do you sit around and think about how you make the most stupid comment possible, or does it just come natural?
- dperren, on 07/09/2008, -3/+83This is absolutely fantastic; only eclipsed by the comment by the deadpan brilliance of the person reverting the vandalism: 'No filesystem will murder your wife'.
- inbuninbu, on 07/09/2008, -6/+67They left out that ZFS cures cancer :-/
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -3/+63Somehow it just feels like it should say "Partial" next to ext3
- ObeseSnake, on 07/09/2008, -2/+60From Wikipedia....
Murders your wife
So why is this crap still in? It may be funny for geeks but it is not funny for many others. It isnt even a technical term. Why dont you guys just remove this useless line? And why is there no discussion about it? 80.108.103.172 (talk) 14:28, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
It isn't. You are looking at a specific version from the history, which is specified in the link you followed from Slashdot. -- Mark J (talk) 15:14, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
Gave me a good laugh though. :) 121.45.149.55 (talk) 21:58, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
I hereby nominate this edit for some sort of Wikipedia black-humor prize. Please direct us to the correct page for that... Atario (talk) 00:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
While "murders your wife" is of course not technically correct way to express it, I don't really think that it's significance is just "fun for geeks". At the very least, it means the filesystem is no longer seeking economic viability, which is a very important change. Perhaps there should be another way to express this significance? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.253.184.200 (talk) 12:41, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
BTW, a version with this "misfeature" is [4]. Vrmlguy (talk) 12:45, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
The only problem is, now, the current page does not give you any way to know if a particular file system will murder your wife. SteubenGlass (talk) 21:44, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Hilarious though it is, it looks like people are going to keep adding variations on it for a while now that the news update has come through. Maybe lock the page for a day or so?60.242.240.24 (talk) 05:17, 8 July 2008 (UTC) - whahaa, on 07/09/2008, -3/+50no such thing as poor taste where humor is concerned.

- Browzer, on 07/09/2008, -0/+33That link is an old version of the page. The "murders your wife" entry was created on 20 June 2008 at 08:54. It was erased in the next edit, which was on the same day at 14:53 (6 hours later). I suppose whether 6 hours is brief is open to debate.

- ronocdh, on 07/09/2008, -5/+34Whoa whoa whoa, if you're gonna be reasonable about this, get the hell off Digg!
- FLarsen, on 07/09/2008, -0/+29And once again:
A comparison was made between Encyclopædia Brittanica and wikipedia, and the ratio of errors per article was almost equal.
Wikipedia has more information, so wikipedia wins. - sleepwalkers, on 07/09/2008, -1/+29I believe the accepted onomatopoeia is "Ba-dum chhh!"
- 4321234, on 07/09/2008, -1/+29Too bad Nina can't comment - we could all digg her up.
- ObeseSnake, on 07/09/2008, -2/+28It's funny because it's true!
- frmatc, on 07/09/2008, -1/+24Same for me, and so true.
Meanwhile, xfs has been a kind and gentle friend to me, helping me through many trying times, and I still don't give it the love it truly deserves. - spiritflare1, on 07/09/2008, -2/+24he claims that he had to protect the kids from Muchuasen-by-Proxy syndrome his wife apparently suffered from: http://www.ktvu.com/news/16827127/detail.html
- somedirtbag, on 07/09/2008, -1/+22It's not rape if you're willing... It's more "surprise sex".

- houndeyex, on 07/09/2008, -2/+22Edit it. It is Wikipedia, after all.
- BurtCokain, on 07/09/2008, -1/+19I wish they had options for why you digg a story up, like they have if you bury a story. This should be one of them.
- bigdoof, on 07/09/2008, -1/+17Because it's an ridiculous over-analysis of a simple joke. If you really think something like this will even marginally damage the open source movement, I have an awesome bridge I'd like to sell you.
- Compuwiz, on 07/09/2008, -10/+26This is a great example as to why schools will never let Wikipedia be a "credible source."
Funny none the less - I'd laugh if the professor actually checks the reference and comes back 'uhh yeah....murders your wife?' - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+15This website is great... Now if I could only find one with an instant laugh track I could act like my life is a corny sitcom.
- DMFlash, on 07/09/2008, -0/+15Laughing out loud ling out loud??
Wat? - RobotBuddha, on 07/09/2008, -0/+15Why, when the old generation used encyclopedias, another reference that's worthless for anything that needs primary sources. If anything, at least wikipedia has a somewhat bad reputation that should influence people to realize why primary sources are so important. Encyclopedias have a false air of reliability around them.
- cthellis, on 07/09/2008, -0/+15It's generally "untrustworthy" only if you immediately follow someone's link that could be manipulated. It self-corrects pretty well and pretty quickly, which is more than I can say for other encyclopedias when they have errors (especially those pesky "print" types), so you take the good with the bad.
Effectively, "come back later." As well, it's pretty trivial to get a 2nd opinion on whatever you're looking for through Google, so just don't be a schmuck and treat Wikipedia as your SOLE, UNCHALLENGEABLE source and you'll be fine. It may not always be right, but it's the best and fastest way out there of pointing you in the right direction. - akilleen, on 07/09/2008, -0/+14That one took me a second.
- seanblake, on 07/09/2008, -6/+20too soon? I dunno... it made me laugh out loud
- jerkychew, on 07/09/2008, -0/+14From the discussion page as well as ObeseSnake's comment:
"The only problem is, now, the current page does not give you any way to know if a particular file system will murder your wife. SteubenGlass (talk) 21:44, 8 July 2008 (UTC)"
- I nominate that quote for the Funniest thing said on the Internet award for July 9th, 2008. - mlvassallo, on 07/09/2008, -3/+17Should say "Kills its own Wife".
- noclue, on 07/09/2008, -0/+14That's fscked up.
- kcorbo, on 07/09/2008, -6/+20Phil Hartman should've used Reiser4. File systems save comed(y/ians).
- 1Bad, on 07/09/2008, -0/+13They showed a short clip of an interview with him on local news this morning and I have never been so genuinely creeped out by anyone. The only way he could have come off creepier is if he was eating brains.
Here is the clip: http://www.ktvu.com/video/16827327/index.html
I had problems viewing it in FF3 but if I right clicked and zoomed to fullscreen it displayed fine. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -1/+14LOLLING out loud? A bit redundant don't ya think?
