- sej7278, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4I thought RPMforge was supposed to do this - that was ATrpms, FreshRPMs, Dries, Dag etc; but that seems to have completely disappeared. Livna is great, its about the only one I use for codecs etc.
ATrpms is the only one that's seriously bitten me on the arse before - if you install their firewire drivers and if you try to uninstall it will take most of KDE with it!
On CentOS I won't touch any 3rd party repo's, and only get the kernel from centosplus for JFS support, otherwise its basically everything from RHEL5.1
I like the mandatory screenshot - who uses pirut, doesn't everyone just do "yum install mplayer*" ? - darkchild, on 01/30/2008, -0/+4sej7278, I am not sure why you were dugg down when you are correct. RPMForge was supposed to unite the separate repos, but this just never happened. Livna in my opinion is probably the best third party repo out there and I have had very few problems with their packages unlike when I tried ATrpms in the past.
Hopefully this project will succeed. - Stupidumb, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2What is a repository?
- Stupidumb, on 01/31/2008, -0/+2Ok, so I have been using it correctly all along.
- kanarip, on 01/30/2008, -0/+2You might want to consider EPEL though, http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL
- klaengur, on 01/31/2008, -3/+3something you stick up your ass
- actionM, on 01/31/2008, -7/+4Awesome, you caught up to debian!
- dmourati, on 01/31/2008, -5/+1Buried. We've heard this before. Herding cats.
- schestowitz, on 01/31/2008, -7/+1> One Repository to Rule Them All
Haven't we all heard it before? Either way, for Fedora at least, this is wonderful news.
