- MatthewArnold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is my favorite convention. It's really high-energy and fun, and it's great to see the intersection of science fiction with the programmers who are making the future happen. Too bad we had to cancel the rappelling demo, but at least we're still planning to make liquid nitrogen ice cream. I'm looking forward to talking with several of the celebrities there, like John Scalzi of "The Whatever" blog, Karl Schroeder, the PartiallyClips and Schlock Mercenary webcomics guys, and "theferrett" from Livejournal.
- Sparkfist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This sucks that registration is closed, I live less then 2 hours from Novi. Guess I'll just have to wait til next year.
- wolfger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The best little con around. Something for everyone.
- burstlag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I rather wish the description was a little more detailed as Penguicon is not really just another convention. I've heard people describe their experiences at sci-fi and comic book conventions and thought, "Gee, that sounds more like a flea market than a convention." At Penguicon, the focus is on fun. Once you pay the exceptionally low registration fee, you can go the whole weekend without touching your wallet. (And if you try really hard, you can even get the fee back.)

- mackimba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can buy a membership at the door, so I hope you will come by this year and not wait until next year. We'd love to have you join us.
- zifferent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a great con for technical people. It's definitely not your average Linux con.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Next time you post this, do it BEFORE preregistration closes...
- mtanski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude registration is closed due to the fact that they are already printing badges, but you can still get admission at the door.
- nucleocide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I went. It was okay. The session on setting up an OpenBSD router turned into a Q&A session on BSD partitioning (or slicing apparently). The securing PHP session was quite well. There was free beer and food. Free if you forget the $30 admission fee.
BTW there were a ton of crossdressers at this thing, along with a few furries. Not sure what the hell that was all about. I'll never be able to look at Tux the same again. - MatthewArnold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At the door registration is still available.
- MasterFunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I went last year and I plan on going again. I live near Ann Arbor so it is not a bad drive at all. It is cool how this is on Digg though.
Well see you guys next week. - jhowe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I definitely second that after visiting the site....
- ThePDW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, I'd go just to see all the nerds :-)
- zifferent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Be sure to check out the Cantenna Presentation at the MonroeLUG meeting Friday afternoon at the Convention!
- penguinista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, any possibility we can have you help us write up our "what is PenguiCon?" materials? I have this feeling you'd do an *excellent* job. (:
- puttwill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's not FREE food. it's food that you pay for with your membership.
- Soko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wish I could go.... ;_;
- puttwill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is extremly little chance we will be turning ppl down at the door. it has yet to happen even the year we had Neil.
- meffiem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0penguicon-4 rocked. Thanks to Aaron and all the organizers for a fantastic event.
- adam84a, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wow, this is first good reason I've seen to ever step foot in Michigan again since I left. I'll definately have to try to get to it next year.
