- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+142Finally! It's easy to toast my bread!
cat /dev/slotz | sed "s/raw/toasted/g" | awk '{print $1 $2 $8}' | grep -i bread | sleep 2 | make && make toast | grep -v fail ; eject /dev/slotz ; echo -e "Done."
Anyone can do it! - JonnyTrombone, on 10/11/2007, -7/+134Unfortunately, none of your favorite brands of bread are compatible.
- Cink420, on 10/11/2007, -3/+94Unix? Finally a toasterOS that won't crash on me!
- breakflows, on 10/11/2007, -0/+36Is it Gnutella compatible?
- zekesmz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32The engineer needs to tweak his copy: "Toaster ready to accept toast"
I thought toasters accepted bread. - fatmuscle, on 10/11/2007, -8/+35burning cd's has never been easier
- Kamill85, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24Some ***** DoS'ed my toaster and I was late for work :(
- z00k, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22It would of crashed, and no one likes burnt toast.
- DarkDragon, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19Of course it runs NetBSD! =P
- neko, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12kernel: lp0 on fire
- Fartag, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Maybe try having some wine with your toast, or some cedega bagels. But seriously though, it's probably not the best idea to eat closed breads containing unknown things, it might be full of bugs, or worse!
- b-rent, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11">>> Toaster ready to accept toast"
Well there you go... no need for this if it wants you to put toast in it! - Bonekhan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11I wonder if anyone has ever hacked a toaster and gotten free toast?
- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10While I've been waiting for my "Star Trek" future to arrive, I guess I'll settle for "Red Dwarf."
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I'm still waiting for the Java enabled kitchen.
- HouseofEl, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Fraking toasters!

Even if you get it, you'll still be waiting. - akcoder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8This NetBSD toaster was done by Technologic Systems about 2 years ago. They did this on their TS-7200 embedded arm board. They have a very nice write up about it at http://www.embeddedarm.com/news/netbsd_toaster.htm
- mordain, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Because they can. Not everything needs a rational reason.
- JangoFett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Good news, everyone! I've taught the toaster to feel love.

- Jonsey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Does it have 'OVERBURN' protection?
- neko, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9... why are you piping stuff to and from the sleep command?
- mikewitt, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Yep. While I don't like NetBSD, I thought the original article on slashdot 3 YEARS AGO was pretty interesting.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6What toaster do you own that charges you for toast?
- kaph, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5heh, I would only be able to use genuine Microsoft bread. I wouldn't be able to pull it apart to see how to fix it and see how it works if something went wrong. Oh and I would never actually OWN the toaster, just the right to use it. The viruses would probably be actual medical conditions as well.......
- ers35, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11I would've dugg you up if you hadn't used the word "cd's".
- SirNoobius, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6if you could get that toaster to work, you can bake your own bread too.
- VirtualCtor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You fail it.
- theholycow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3...because he doesn't know about the semicolon?
- shadowflame, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/lookaroundyou/series1/thoughts.shtml
Look around you had it first (top right hand picture) - mapkinase, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3making toast before eject???
- matt3454, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2when there is already bread in the toaster

- theholycow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Flying toasters!
- teiq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It's actually common practice to use an apostrophe with plural acronyms in lower case. If he had written "CD's", then I'd agree with you.
- dgig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1More info on this from LinuxWorld 2005.
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=25321 - richardiscool, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4It's an acronym, so it's acceptable to use an apostrophe.
- returnofajedi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Eat my toast, Windows bitches!
- nic28, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1oh, SNAP!
