- fritzek, on 01/08/2008, -2/+14You live in the past. QT has been released under GPL two years ago.
- leinir, on 01/08/2008, -0/+11This IS the consumer version of their last phone. Read my reply above.
- leinir, on 01/08/2008, -0/+10It's not moving to another product :P What's now called FreeRunner is what was previously called the Neo 1973 GTA02 (or mass market version). All that has happened is it's been delayed a bit, nothing else. i for one am impressed it's no more than half a year late ;)
- rexbron, on 01/08/2008, -2/+10Buried. RTFA, this is the consumer version, it has just been renamed.
- Ub3rg33k, on 01/08/2008, -1/+8Damnit, I thought it said win an OpenMoko FreeRunner: win a phone
Bastards.
Do want! - martalli, on 01/08/2008, -0/+7Will it sync with Linux PIMs like Kontact?
- harlowsmonkeys, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6Comment dugg up. It was on-topic, and added something to the discussion, rather than just being some kind of me-too comment. Do more like this, and you'll get more diggs up.
But keep doing comments like the one you did over in the politics topic, where the story was on "intel", as in "intelligence", and you posted that you at first thought it was about Intel, the company, and then proceeded to post a bunch of your beefs with Intel, the company, and you'll continue to get dugg down. - HonoredMule, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6Have to break it first.
- justinjstark, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Does anybody have any pics of the FreeRunner yet?
- ha1f, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Jeez, you scared me. When I read "With GTK and other GNOME technologies..." I thought they were using Maemo or something. Phew, thank God.
- schestowitz, on 01/08/2008, -5/+10It seems to be in progress.

but i agree, it doesn't matter, OSS & kernel access is priceless ! - crazyvegas, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4http://www.news.com/i/bto/20080103/OpenMoko_FreeRu ...
- mooninite, on 01/08/2008, -8/+12Um... GTK is pretty damn light. XFCE does a great job of showing that, too.
GTK = LGPL, royalty free.
QT = Proprietary, royalties required if used commercially. - raindogmx, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Price.
Not that it matters, really. - ubergeek09, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Awesome, I want one.
- spydon, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3You can always check openmokos wiki if OpenMoko support your phone...
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/OpenMoko-supported_h ... - nonsequitor, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Guess what Ween means in the US? Glass house, rocks, fail
- ToadLeg, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2You want to know why people systematically digg you down:

What's that first comment? More schestowitz spam?
Half of the time I see you it seems to be "note to digg admins they're being mean" spam. - etx313, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2I wish I could just run a linux distro on my htc touch. :( A Gnustep based frontend would be so rad.
- spydon, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2it looks exactly the same as GTA01 so you can just see there sites www.openmoko.org www.openmoko.com
- schestowitz, on 01/08/2008, -6/+8Note to Digg staff,
Will you take care of shills in your site already? Will you? 4 people systematically mod down _all_ my comment (example from the past few hours alone here: http://tinyurl.com/33men2 ). If people do this for _months_ and within a few hours, it's no hobby or obsession. It's hard to believe these people aren't paid to do this. Now watch them attack attack again.
Digg has become a junkyard for corporations and users should be rightly concerned. - harlowsmonkeys, on 01/08/2008, -3/+5By that logic, you must be paid for your posts. Who is paying you?
- B1gB3nh69, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2this is a new story theyve actually had it in develpoment
they just recently made announced it public availible and renamed it freerunner - SniperX, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2More importantly, will it improve my FreeRunning skills
- Tenoq, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1So they haven't fixed the design yet? :(
- ddemetis, on 05/16/2009, -0/+0forgot to say:
"a Linux-based mobile phone that can easily be modified, improved, and repurposed by an audience of individual users"
can iphone, nokia and the rest say the same thing? - justo, on 01/08/2008, -1/+1father time. the attention economy is upon us, time is money.
- flatfish, on 01/08/2008, -3/+3I guess 'freedom of speech' has a different meaning for some people. Amazing how a person who posts 1000's of articles a month and who claims to be a proponent of freedom and free speech, goes out of his way to silence those who may disagree with him.
I wonder who is paying him as well.
They aren't getting their monies worth IMHO. - ddemetis, on 05/16/2009, -0/+0nice article.
I liked the comments on google's android platform.
Freerunner is out of stock in some countries (sweden, uk) but can still be found in italy and germany. and its price is around 260 euro to 300 euro , if you take all extras (debug board) you can go total cost up to 400 euro. - Telexen, on 01/08/2008, -9/+5It was called a "win" when they announced their last phone too. Yet they never released a consumer version to my knowledge, only a dev version.
So I'm skeptical. - SniperX, on 01/08/2008, -9/+1http://www.trueedge.co.uk/images/freerunner.jpg
- fritzek, on 01/08/2008, -8/+0One product has been delayed again and again and now the effort moves to another one? I highly doubt, we'll ever have an opensource phone. Final version of FIC should have been finished last year.... Too bad for all people, who bought developer version and hoped to get finished operating system sometime.
- Oakes, on 01/08/2008, -16/+6Shouldn't they actually release the consmer version of Neo1973 before they start announcing new imaginary products? Say what you want about how "closed" the iPhone I'm typing on is, but at least it exists, and soon its SDK will as well.
- toxicgonzo, on 01/08/2008, -14/+3Yes, but will it blend?
- TheRealToma, on 01/08/2008, -15/+2Booo GTK. Why not use a lighter and better looking library :(
What is Digg?
