- Remmy, on 12/20/2007, -1/+119Does anyone actually read the developer blog? They said they are moving away from the orange. These are just some guy's theme.
- tattokris, on 12/20/2007, -2/+57sudo apt-get install some new damn colors
- fatas, on 12/20/2007, -0/+30It is a shame this is not the default theme.

It is stunning. - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+30People don't read anything. This is Digg, you should know that already!

Paradoxical. I like it! - ptFoe, on 12/20/2007, -1/+22In the road map they said they are moving away from brown. But the first official mock up was was chocolate and fugly.
- trogdoor, on 12/20/2007, -0/+21sudo apt-get install blubuntu-look
( Try it, it actually works ) - zephc, on 12/20/2007, -0/+15if its brown, drink it down; if it's black, send it back.
- amfantasy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+15that theme is pretty good, the brown and orange combo is going so I can't complain
- superspud, on 12/20/2007, -3/+15To all the people saying 'Hurrr the brown colour looks like *****!' - don't any of you eat chocolate?
I for one like the brown colour, as it is a refreshing change from the rather cold and sterile blue the other distros use as a default. The brown, I think, gives it a nice 'earthy warmth'. - schestowitz, on 12/20/2007, -10/+22I don't think that's anything official.
Either way, it's a question of /defaults/. Each person will have a theme suit his/her own taste. - paechan, on 12/20/2007, -0/+11I like the current human theme that Ubuntu comes with. It has a very defined style which is cool, but it looks like this new human theme is a bit more compizfriendly. Because as much as i like the standard orange theme, it really looks big and clumsy when coupled with compiz. More high quality themes!
- Toupee, on 12/20/2007, -5/+14I like that a LOT.
- depro9, on 12/20/2007, -7/+16I can digg it.
- Timan, on 12/20/2007, -8/+17They really have something for brown don't they... Since we do have the ability to change the look of the os, I won't complain that much. But quit trying to polish a turd (the ***** color scheme).
- MasterRex, on 12/20/2007, -0/+9where the ***** do you live?
- snugglebear, on 12/20/2007, -8/+16Is it just me who finds that incredibly ugly?
Honestly, ubuntu needs a proper default theme. I'm not a massive mac fan, but thats exactly where they get it dead on and ubuntu fails. They have a kickass default theme which bloody works. Now I love ubuntu and all, but when I reformat I have to spend at least 4-6 hours changing all my settings, config files, etc just to get the look and feel to be somewhat reasonable for me. Really, thats a bit much. You can't try and get non-geeks to buy it if its not easy to use and looks good from the get go.
AND STOP USING GODDAMNED BROWN - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -1/+8The style plus the color of the one on Ubuntu-Art.org (http://www.ubuntu-art.org/content/show.php/New+Hum ... would be nice
- xtragedy, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7True, blue, is currently an overused color. I personally like green too; it gives the same kind of 'earthy' feeling. For some reason though, we seem to be afraid of mixing colors.
- rimco, on 12/20/2007, -0/+7I thought they were doing away with the brown and not the orange... I personally think orange is a pretty slick color when it's done right, but brown is never slick, never cool, just sometimes easy on the eyes.
- wwwluckyro, on 12/20/2007, -3/+9Looks a little like Vista, the close buttons and all.
- livejamie, on 12/20/2007, -1/+7If I can't shoot polar bears in the streets, where am I supposed to shoot them?
- tabassman, on 12/20/2007, -1/+7your sister likes tiger print?
- phantom_mullet, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5I think I just blue myself.
- Theli, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5Exactly... here's a thread on ubuntuforums.org discussing this theme (and it is not going to be the default in Hardy Heron).
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=638584 - rotarychainsaw, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4These themes aren't that great, but I'm very excited to see how people will apply the good ideas that are floating around out there. I mean, I'm now seeing that GTK can do actual alpha blending and stuff, so these themes are doable, they just need refining.
- OBKenobi, on 12/20/2007, -4/+8It looks like a prostitute's bedroom.
- DocHoliday22, on 12/20/2007, -3/+7I thought they were throwing away the brown/orange thing? Still this one looks like one of those Windows Accesibility themes...
- abbathdoom, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4Ubuntu is supposed to be moving away from brown to more of an orange accent. So why are all these mock ups getting dug even more brown than the current theme? No one at Ubuntu is going to pick something that brown for the default Ubuntu theme in a million years, so why is this even getting dugg?
- ChromaVita, on 12/20/2007, -1/+4If it's yellow, leave it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down.
- stevedclarke, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Water restrictions, eh?
- Ademan, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Heh, i remember that from 5th grade camp...
- blackmage439, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3Das ist Deutsch! (The language is German.)
- Flamekebab, on 12/20/2007, -1/+4I do wonder why so many people dislike brown so very much. I think it's a great colour by default and as another commenter said - blue and green colours are so cold and sterile.
- glinsvad, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3nice try
- BrandonMills, on 12/20/2007, -0/+3They need to just stick to cool colors. warm colors aren't easy on the eyes.
and brown...seriously, no more brown. I'm not going to stare at brown all day. - crestfall, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20071101-hard ...
Black and orange rock - ShokDoktor, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2and redundant
- xxbrighteyed, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Kompton
- BrandonMills, on 12/20/2007, -1/+3People use defaults. I know Linux gurus like to say, "Well, you can customize it!". That's nice, but most people will use the default theme, so don't give them something they hate looking at in the first place.
- mossblaser, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Damn straight! Btw, if you want to save your self a lot of reconfiguring time, copy all those hidden folders in your home dir somewhere safe before you format, copy them back when you're done and log out/in again and u'll have your old settings back again! Just be careful about any new versions of software.
- TeacherOfHeroes, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2It's also just a mock-up
- 000dom000, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2where do you get that cool tooltip thing?
- gavintlgold, on 12/21/2007, -0/+2If it's LCD, it doesn't matter if it's darker or not, since the backlight is always on. CRT? That saves electricity.
- ravi7791, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2The themes as a whole look great but they really need to get some better fonts.
- Jholder112233, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2Why the brown? It's not like its a lovely colour...
- h0ly, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2It's a tool. It's inanimate. It's a MOCKUP.
- mik3pass, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2First Comment:
"Entschuldigen sie meine Deutsch…
Ich finde diese Themen sehr scheusslich. Blau und grau sind besser."
At least they tried... - cyberdork33, on 12/20/2007, -0/+2https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Hardy/Alt ...
