- qwuinc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33Dugg for being cool, despite initially thinking "article about icon? Shouldn't be on digg"... :-)
- maxpower2911, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Cool I guess, its just an icon though.
- madskjaer, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13I could care less, since I don't use Konqueror. But I hate having low-quality icons in my dock, so I guess that there'll be a lot of happy users out there. The new icon is waay better than the old one.
- aaronm67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7From Wikipedia:
"The name "Konqueror" is a play on the names of other browsers: first comes the Navigator, the Explorer, and then the Konqueror." - cesclaveria, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5another hand raised.
I use it all the time both as a file manager and web browser, but mainly as a file manager, I think I couldn't live without fish:// - cK39, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's a K.
FTA: "The cog now looks more like a base for the globe and the stars on the globe form a subtle âKâ constellation." - GMorgan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Why would they do that. KHTML is one of the strengths of Konqueror. It already passes Acid2.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5does anyone actually use knonqueror?? show of hands
- aaronm67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4KDE is a worldwide project, but the standard for communication is English. It is very likely English is not the author's first language, and it's also likely he rarely speaks English outside of the computer.
- HonoredMule, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4So how much less could you care? Or rather, now much more do you care than the minimum that you could?
- mikal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I used to, when I was on KDE (Waiting for next Kubuntu before I wipe Ubuntu Feisty). It is a lovely browser. Very fast and reliable, but I do miss some of my Firefox extensions.
- CptnObvious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3/me raises hand.
Although Konqueror doesn't display every webpage as it should, it offers integration and customization that no other browser can claim. I'm sure one WebKit has been merged in Konqueror will be awesome. - Aitese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm sure his English is way better than your Italian...
- zwaldowski, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Tango?
- tc1415, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No, this is the KDE web browser, and as its part of KDE it has a K, like the Konsole, Kmail or Konversation.
- guardsman85, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No, no it's not. http://www.konqueror.org/
- HerbertScrunge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Since KDE4 and GNOME use the fd.o icon-naming scheme, you should be able to use Oxygen in GNOME and Tango in KDE. Theoretically, at least :)
- asraniel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3here, posted from within konqueror
- cbreaker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4When I'm in KDE I use it all the time. It's got pretty much everything FireFox does, and it renders pages well. It's quick.
It's no different then using Safari on OSX. I'll use FireFox for most of the time since I can copy my FireFox profile from one machine to another easily, but I still use Konqueror for a bunch of stuff.
Of course, KDE team could probably take the Gecko engine and start using that for rendering HTML these days. - aaronm67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*Raises Hand*
- GMorgan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Of course, the giant blue E of IE or the funny Fox/Globe thing of Firefox leave you in no doubt what application they are for.
- Blarbo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Looks like a blue pimple.
- tc1415, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2One hand here!

Fail - spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Konqueror as a file manager is great, use it all the time.
- cbreaker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2These things look too much like "Scrubbin' Bubbles" to me. And I don't like an over-use of glow-effects. Overall it's an improvement, though.
- asraniel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1the glowing blue sphere is actualy earth. world wide web... and the gear shaped object realy is a gear and is often used as a kde icon/symbol
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Lookin' sharp.
- rossnyc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Should be a little sharper...other than that it's pretty nice.
- newanalog, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5You submitted a story about an icon?
In other news, a local bakery starts selling muffins. - leksdraven, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I don't understand the relationship between the app (file manager/Web browser), the name (Konqueror), and the icon (glowing blue sphere surrounded by a silver gear-shaped object). Can someone explain this to me? I'm not being coy, I just don't get it.
- CptnObvious, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I interpret the new icon as showing a map of the universe as konqueror is pretty much a universal browser- web pages, local files, ftp, pdf, graphics, etc. Of course this is just the way I see it, the artist could have a totally different translation. Whatever it is, you cannot deny that it is slick. ;)
- fr34k5h0w, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Here, he forgot to add the closing tag. /sarcasm. There we go, fixed.
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i left it out on purpose to bait some people without a sense of humor.
- HerbertScrunge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Most KDE4 apps will be (or already are) ported to Windows. I'd be surprised if we didn't see a Windows port of Konqueror in the not too distant future.
- j3one, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Konqueror is nice, especially for built in ssh in a hurry..
- leksdraven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So the name is as if it were a joke?
- brianben1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not to Mention the cupcakes, which are just like muffins with frosting!
- keyo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I do, it's great. Better then natalias as a file manager. Saves me mucking around with extra ftp software. Split view is great.
Also webkits going to be in it soon, faster javascript and better browser support. - shakin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I use Konqueror all the time. Unfortunately Digg doesn't work 100% in it, but it's fine if you don't comment a lot.
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3are those white dots, the areas where bush is planning to nuke? someone overlay that icon on a map of earth.
this is some type of secret message. - guardsman85, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I replied to the wrong post. bury this.
- stukkm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You're ***** me! How soon before hacked muffin firmware for homebrew muffin goodness?
- h0ly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Taking literally, I don't think it's sharp enough. It still looks a bit blurred at lower sizes.
But they will probably fix that. - bangmalley, on 08/30/2008, -1/+1inspired by .mac icon?
- dansko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Icon ? Is this a joke?
http://blogs.ebay.com/gnabeel - Cymrubeats, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2OMG, an icon, don't jet this page go down, i'm mailing it to everyone in the world. :O:O:O:O:O:O
- xGOATx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Konqueror is a nice browser /file manager, the issue is that most folks will never know or find out because for one it's Linux only! And for two, most people don't know the first thing about Linux, worse they don't know jack about Windows either :(
- maruchan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0So is KDE 4 going to render blurs from SVG icons, or is this just an SVG source-only file that's meant to have the icons displayed as PNGs? Seems like blur rendering would tax the CPU. Also, I like how this icon looks like a UFO...if it is ever animated, the gear needs to spin around as the whole thing bobs up and down ;-)
