- pastaq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41C'mon guys, if he doesn't get more than 10 buries we're just proving him right!

from uncyclopedia:
"The word 'Female' (see Failure) is derived from the latin ferrous (containing iron) and the word male(man). These "Iron men", or Females, are rarely confused with their male counterparts, in spite of their extreme attempts to emulate male behavior (including, but not limited to, alleging equal intelligence). Their enormous brain can be easily located by anyone not trained in this specialty. It was mistakenly thought before modern technology that they used a larger organ located in their head, but research has dispelled this myth with tests showing that this organ is used by females only for the "beauty reflex". The beauty reflex uses all of the power of this organ to compare physical appearance to other females. They rely instead on their male counterparts to figure things out for them. Only their male counterparts seem to use this larger organ for rational thought." - schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30This is a beta. It would be wise to point out that it's more of a review, rather than an announcement.
- Darkhacker, on 10/11/2007, -8/+36What's a female?
- estvir, on 10/11/2007, -12/+29Just more lies like people claiming there are 'females' on the interwebs.
I say bollocks. - aznhalf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I still want PureVideo!
- mmcgrath, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Nvidia,
Thank you for only being sort of useful. Release the source so that we can fix your drivers and the software that use your drivers. Seriously, you guys aren't doing anything magical, its hardware and drivers. I assure you your company will not go out of business simply by releasing open drivers. - OHiggins, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18"Wait..... linux runs games?"
That's right about on par with "Windows sux lol."
Keep up the good work! - coredump0x01, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17@ramble
To play games!? - pastaq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I got mine working. Try using the stable envy 9755 installer then, if you are trying to get some groovy desktop effects add
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
to section "device"
If that doesn't work try doing an install with Nvidia's own driver pack. I really like their utility myself.
go to tty2 (crtl+alt+f2) and type sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop to stop the xserver(or /kde for kde) then CD to the download directory and type sudo sh N*
weee! - marnaq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Hardware decoding support for h.264 would seriously kick ass.
- NikoKun, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I just wanna know when my 8800 will work in linux... -_- so far every time I try to get a driver to work I end up crashing xserver... bah....
- TechHerder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12seriously.. we need Linux PureVideo Drivers, before we can make kickass open source media playback devices... what's the holdup big N?
- idonthack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11spam, spam, go away
don't ever ***** come back - gr4yscale, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10anyone else notice how unhelpful this "review" was?
- mooninite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Beryl runs fine with TwinView (nVidia's Xinerama)...
*sigh*
What's your problem again? - nullx42, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10fireglx can suck a *****
- ragnar0kk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I wish i had an nvidia card in my laptop :( why did i buy ATI!!!!!!
(i used to use windows, now i am exclusively linux) - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7You should have been supported for a long time. However, your driver would be found under the nvidia "legacy" drivers for linux.
- Soriven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I used to be torn between Nvidia and ATI, but NVidia's latest efforts to support linux have completely won me over.
- lengau, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Link to download Drivers: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html
- ijustam, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@mooninite:
Xinerama is not the same thing as TwinView. They do similar functions but they are not the same. - ruz322, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Yea, and my GeForce Go 7400 is running Beryl great on my Feisty install. I'll skip this one until it's stable. I'm not pressed for a new driver at the moment.
- josh1413, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I used envy to install my nvidia driver for my 8800GTS and it installed the driver just fine.
- marnaq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Title said it all. No need for an "article".
- ptFoe, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Hopefully it fixes the black window bug in Beryl.
- myfanwy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9blogspam
nvidia.com/drivers - NtrmDscrptr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I use nvidia-settings to "hotswap" between LCD and external video. Or at least duplicate the screen on both.
Have you tried that? - TechCF, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Beryl works with both, but not as intended or as stated in the Xinerama documentation. Black holes/areas appear when using different resolutions in some cases (as shown in my ascii drawing), which they shouldn't.
- ricodued, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Ugh maybe this will fix the random artifacts and general not-drawingness problems I've been having in the last few days. On Linux, at least. OS X and Vista are still pretty much inoperable.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3was wondering what how they would number the drivers once they hit 10k
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If anyone cares how you would really do it, it's not that hard...
First download the file, then go to a terminal...
sh (location of file)
Then it installs itself. Then to configure it...
nvidia-xconfig
Then you're done. 10 minutes tops. - xspinkickx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I have gotten beryl to work with xinerama and twinview, I dunno what you are complaining about but xinerama support has been in beryl for over a year.
- cantormath, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3schoate09
HAHAHA......I dont use windows, but that ***** is funny.....
You make it sound like its an insult. - shinigami2057, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I feel your pain, man :(
- nukem996, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I have one working in both Gentoo and Fedora Core 6. Both are rock solid.
- Spudgy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6Tip for the reviewer: 800x600 is a CPU test, not a GPU test.
If you want to stress GPU performance, crank up the resolution, AA and AF. - wafflesomd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Haha, he got 100 buries so far.
- oobuntu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"black window bug"
well, does it? - TechCF, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Xinerama supports this configuration, TwinView does not (both displays have to have same resolution, you can get windows placed in non-existant areas)

|__________| - DAE51D, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What I meant was, they stopped supporting my card after 1.0.8776 AFAIK. I was hoping they'd added support back in as I cannot upgrade this since it's onboard to my notebook.
- Stonekeeper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I did not know that was an option! thanks! It restarts X when I hit FN-F5.
- NikoKun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@ramble, cause I'm dual booting with Vista... =P When I want to game or need windows for some reason, I switch to Vista, and my 8800 makes my games awesome! XD either that or linux games and beryl =P
- Stonekeeper, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Does anyone know if this will enable me to "hotswap" between LCD screen and external video on my laptop? Or am i still forced to restart X each time i want to do that?
- Werrismys, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4Still closed, proprietary crap.
- DarkJesus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0My 7900GT works fine, but new drivers can't hurt.
I will wait for stable drivers like others too. - DAE51D, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1it says "improved notebook support", does that mean my Dell i8200 notebook's GeForce 440 card will be supported, or am I S.O.L. from now on?
- ThomasDarko, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4that's nice, maybe tomorrow the linux ati drivers are out *NOT*
- Protoss, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4Thats a Beryl problem my friend.
