- Trocisp, on 11/02/2007, -5/+36I forgot about the project (MythTV included) completely, and as I read the title I thought "Mythbuntu? Mythbusters meets Ubuntu, hu? BEST THING EVER"
- hockey, on 10/31/2007, -3/+30Sure. Just make sure to do the same for the iPhone, Leopard and the Nintendo Wii while your at it.
- zdislaw, on 11/01/2007, -2/+17How true! What a pussy for not sticking with the system that didn't work and instead switching to one that did.
- evilregis, on 10/30/2007, -0/+11I'm on a Windows machine at work right now, but that Mythbuntu page is right busted in Firefox for me. Anyone else?
- jpaolini, on 10/31/2007, -2/+12Let's not forget Ron Paul. -_-
- arjie, on 10/30/2007, -4/+13A whole distribution just to do that? How inefficient.
- ephemere, on 10/30/2007, -0/+9Rule #1 of MythTV: If it works, leave it alone.
- antoniojvr, on 10/30/2007, -0/+8Yea! Dammit people, stop digging things you like because some ***** says so.
- hockey, on 11/01/2007, -2/+10For every guy who posts about how they couldn't get it working there are many more that did but don't bother to post. My system works fine and has been for over 2 years now.
- hilo4321, on 10/31/2007, -0/+7i really, really think you need to relax
- skippyatuw, on 10/30/2007, -0/+6I really thought that zap2it's end of free guide data was going to be the end of MythTV. I'm really glad I was wrong.
And if you are setting up a myth system, make sure you take a look at Mythdora. It's a very good distrobution. - rudy23, on 10/30/2007, -0/+6i can tell from your screen name why you feel hurt
- sgtstadanko, on 11/01/2007, -2/+8uh....man xorg.conf
RTFM...jeez! - natenovs, on 10/30/2007, -3/+8damnit. i had almost forgotten about him. thanks.
- fryguy1013, on 10/31/2007, -0/+5I call your "i switched to vista and it just worked" with:
I've been using MythTV off and on for a long time now. I had my PC in a closet and it overheated. When I finally got around to getting new hardware for it, I installed mythbuntu on it. It's a hell of a lot nicer now than it was when I had to modify all of the config files by hand. Anyways I used to have 2 tuners (one for basic cable and one for satellite) but where it's located now I don't have the satellite connected to it and don't need the second tv capture card. I went to stick the capture card in my windows vista pc to play guitar hero 3 on it last night, and the tuner plain doesn't work on vista because there's no drivers for it. Kind of ironic though, it usually is linux that doesn't have drivers. With vista, now it's windows turn to not have drivers. - smacksaw, on 11/01/2007, -0/+5Yeah, seriously...his commitment is lacking (BTW foxbuntu that's some sarcasm there)
God forbid people actually spend time using their computer to record TV when they could just troubleshoot problems with it instead. - hondaman, on 10/31/2007, -1/+6Mythdora is nice. Its also completely outdated and full of vulnerabilities.
- foofightrs777, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Yup it's kinda fugly in firefox for me as well.
- RyeBrye, on 10/31/2007, -5/+9Mythbuntu scares me. I, for one, don't want to be in #mythtv-users when a flood of MythBuntu retards can't figure out how to change the channel or wipe the drool off their faces.
- arcticblue, on 10/30/2007, -1/+5I absolutely love Mythbuntu because the uPnP server just works. I set up my system and it automatically shows up on my PS3 and lets me watch all my recorded programs. With Remote Play on my PS3, that means I get to watch my TV anywhere I have internet access and my PSP.
Now here is my main complaint-- I live in Japan so all my shows are saved with Japanese file names. Unfortunately, the uPnP server isn't equipped to handle foreign characters so all I get is garbled text on my PS3. I've filed a bug and hopefully it gets fixed in the next version. Also, there is no browsing music by Artist from the uPnP server. It's either by album, or all songs. That kind of sucks. - MrSarcasm, on 10/30/2007, -2/+5You are not forced to watch fox news. Just try to not give a ***** about their propaganda. Oh wait, you can't because it still bothers you? same here.
- BoneheadFarker, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3But what fun would that be?
- nonsapiens, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4Vista Ultimate? Isn't that the distro of Windows with MS-made content which never got made?
- BoneheadFarker, on 10/31/2007, -0/+3Anyone have a good review? I'm still on Mythdora 4, which works well, but I wouldn't mind checking out some other systems. Especially one that makes it easier to setup the remote...
- HiddenCanuck, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3i lied.
- jarogers, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4and what bothers you about Ubuntu????
- Pilot85, on 11/01/2007, -1/+4I tried in vain for a few months to get my hardware working with: ubuntu mythtv install, mythbuntu, mythdora, knoppmyth. Not one ever worked completely, so I bailed and used commercial software (snapstream) on XP. 1 day and I'm running perfect with all the features I wanted. If mythtv can get to the easy to install/setup/use point, I'll switch back. But not until then.
- jpaolini, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3Just tried it out in IE6 (just curious) and it loads nothing but the header with a white background - no text, nothing.
- w00tfest99, on 11/01/2007, -12/+14I tried to set up mythbuntu for over a week and failed. I couldn't get it to display 852x480 on my TV. After picking up Vista Ultimate, I'm up and running in 2 nights. I have to say boo-urns to ubuntu.
- NovaPrime9, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2The white bg doesn't extend down with the menu, but the rest seems ok. So it's usable, but ugly. :)
- tendonut, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Considering I've upgraded from a 27" CRT to a 42" LCD, "leave it alone" is not a good response. 480i sucks on a native 1080p set and I do not want to settle with having it half-work
- daviey, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Yes, linuxmce is Eliza based and Mythbuntu is MythTV based.
I prefer MythTV - zeejay, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3Yeah... it should be hard to use, and designed for obscure niche distros only. That way, the dirty unwashed "regular people" won't be able to join our secret club, what with their pathetic "questions" and "desire to learn."
- MrSarcasm, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2stupid stories on digg..
- bushface, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Please shut up. Both of you.
- springo, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2I think you should just be able to digg/bury automatically articles containing keywords you specify on your profile.
- etmori, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1 is this different from http://www.linuxmce.com/ ?
- maybeway36, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I didn't even know this existed. I just installed a combination backend/frontend over the Ubuntu command-line installation, and the boot screen said "mythbuntu." I was like "Cool, it has a boot screen!"
- GreatSunJester, on 10/30/2007, -2/+3Now now -- sit back in your Ubuntucliner, turn on your TVbuntu. Take a couple UbuntuAspirin with a Buntu-Cola and relax.
- NSMike, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Much, because you still have TV.
- jdhore1, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I still prefer KnoppMyth...It was the first MythTV distro and it is and will always be the best.
- Unclekoolaid, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Im in the same boat, but im running Damnsmallmyth 4x.9 from a 256mb flash drive on an old Packard Bell. The 150mhz cpu just cant keep up like it could with 3x.1, 4x is just too bogged down with graphics enhancements.
- natenovs, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1looks like ***** in IE too.
- jarogers, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1remove
- chrisxkelley, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1diggbuntu sounds way better
- w00tfest99, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Well, seeing as how my 42" Plasma TV cost $1700 and I got Vista Ultimate for $55, you're damn right I threw it out the window.
- mckanute, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1It is an interesting all-in-one PC and entertainment centre
- Terrk, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2So you don't like an OS that doesn't display 852x480? That's the only thing you have, so you throw it out the window?
Then you go and buy a 200 dollar OS?
I can't think of a word to match your stupidity - jarogers, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I don’t know what Fox News has to do with this.
While I may not agree with their politics I do agree with their right to express them. - StinkyPudding, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I use Mythtv to watch and record HDTV over the air, using my PCHD5500 card.
