- booyahbitch, on 05/13/2009, -1/+14It is funny that Linux gets mentioned in Cloud Computing, but the market where they totally own is Security Appliances, and you hardly hear a peep about that. I personally have firewalls, IPS, DLP, SIEM, HIDS and several other systems I manage on a daily basis that are ALL Linux based!

- Megatog615, on 05/13/2009, -6/+12Can we stop prefixing submissions with "Linux:" if its going to be placed in the linux_unix section anyway? It just seems like a waste of usable characters, bandwidth, and the point of the whole categorization concept. It's redundant.

- thcobbs, on 05/13/2009, -0/+5Don't forget about the SmartGrid either. Things are happening there, and the OS of choice is usually Linux.
- z01inks, on 05/13/2009, -0/+3Guess what's under the hood of EMC Storage? LINUX. Guess what's under the hood of VMware? LINUX. Guess what's under the hood of every other mission-critical appliance / software? Yea you guessed it. Linux pwn35 j00

- paulsmith288, on 05/14/2009, -0/+1Already using linux in the cloud (amazon ec2) - its great. Linux fits perfectly. Our kit is a mixture of red hat and ubuntu.
Amazon do windows now. Far more expensive - I have not tried it so no idea if its any good. - inactive, on 05/13/2009, -1/+2+ or at least it would be a very shady day and perhaps humid with thunderstorms.
