- BalancingAct, on 05/02/2009, -1/+11I've only managed to (successfully) use gtk-recordmydesktop. All the others seemed to crash, so i never got any results from them.
- 4321234, on 05/02/2009, -1/+10ffmpeg can capture your desktop. See the part of the ffmpeg man page about x11grab.
- nemoder, on 05/02/2009, -0/+7I've had good luck recording 3D apps with GLC:

- Colinho22, on 05/03/2009, -2/+9windows is your extremely attractive looking portal to a ***** of malware
- marx2k, on 05/03/2009, -1/+7And yet 'experts' say it's only hovering at 1% market share. Strange.
- dhughes, on 05/03/2009, -0/+6Not sure why you're being dugg down, it's a great way to create a desktop video.

- SniperZero, on 05/03/2009, -4/+7who the ***** dugg this up? pretty much any using linux knows this and a dead simple search will tell you this?.... ***** off with the spam.
- marx2k, on 05/03/2009, -1/+4"you can hide with Linux, where third party applications are non-existant, gaming is unheard of, and compatibility is a joke"
You forgot a proper file system with working user permissions that would make a virus virtually impossible - Willbrow71, on 05/03/2009, -0/+2Not useful :(
- andycr512, on 05/03/2009, -1/+3I like Istanbul. Nice and simple, records to Ogg Theora, and fast enough to use for demonstrating 3D apps. Haven't tried the other 2.
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -1/+3I've used recordMyDesktop, which works okay. But I've seen people record Windows 3d games with Fraps. The FPS hit I get from recordMyDesktop makes the games on Linux unplayable. Anyone tried the others with 3d games?
- rpgmakr, on 05/03/2009, -1/+3Err, why don't we just use one of the several tools that are *specifically* to record your desktop? They may be using ffmpeg underneath.
- rpgmakr, on 05/03/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I once needed to record my desktop and recordmydesktop did the job.
- Queue29, on 05/03/2009, -0/+2I use that one too
- techGuide1, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1you can try this, no software needed ...... http://www.epiki.com/record-your-desktop-free-onli ...
- marx2k, on 05/03/2009, -3/+4Captain Hyperbole says that there are BILLIONS of screen capture programs for Windows! You lose.
- fritzek, on 05/04/2009, -0/+1It was really slow for me (quad-core, 4gigs ram, nvidia gfx). I don't know why, but only xvidcap works pretty nice for me(and yes, I messed with settings with both). I haven't tried the third one
- AndyLao, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1For PC, DemoCreator is a nice option. It can record any area of your desktop.

- Caellun, on 05/03/2009, -4/+2not to go against linux users but lawcheehungs got a point
- Jamemill84, on 05/03/2009, -3/+1recordMyDesctop is much better!
- inactive, on 05/03/2009, -8/+4No Linux application has ever crashed. You must have been using Windows by mistake.
- 3242130193, on 05/02/2009, -7/+3I think a screencast of this would be more enlightening. You can do that, right?
- Lawcheehung, on 05/03/2009, -13/+4linux is your hobby
windows is your portal to endless possibilities - fanfablebig, on 05/02/2009, -21/+5I'm getting tired of seeing "Linux" everywhere.
- Lawcheehung, on 05/02/2009, -25/+6ROFL Windows has hundreds of thousands of screen capture programs - are these supposed to be the newest thing to work on Linux? This is 2009 folks.
