http://www.lesswatts.org/ - PlaidPhantom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I would argue that using less power (and thus saving me money) would actually make an operating system better. Not more usable or prettier or anything like that, but better in that it is more of a benefit to me than it had been.
- JasonCox, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Make Linux as an OS better? No.
Make Linux use less power thus saving money? Yes. - Guspaz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Here's an idea for an opensource project for Intel... release the source to the wireless card firmware so that getting WiFi working on linux doesn't require binary non-free crap.
- bjwest, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Why did you bury this as "blogspam"? The article here is rather informative. Much more so than the sites front page. It's not an overly add-disabled site like most. In fact, I found a couple of other articles on there I found interesting. I see nothing wrong with people posting links to their blogs, as long as it's a well managed and informative site.
- tehfink, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12shouldn't it be FEWERwatts.org? or lesswattage.org?
- smellinator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I don't know how to react when they use my name as a service.

- SimonGray, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Great! Linux power management really needs this.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Go back to MySpace emo kid.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4We have, did you miss the story about hardwired DRM is CPUs?
- NJHewitt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Debatable... wattage is a continuous scale, power usage doesn't have to be an integer number of Watts.
- cannonballtrane, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Sheesh... learn English Intel. FEWER watts please!
- pak314, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I don't see much change in the power consumption in the graphs they show. Even after a couple of major code changes over a few kernel versions, there was less than 1W drop in the desktop power profile. I'm guess a typical system consumes 100W while it is running.
- realyst, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5May I make a humble suggestion? I would not post such information on Digg's comment system....I mean, have you SEEN the posts by the people who lurk here??
(however, feel free to post Jack Thompson's info all you want) - jakswa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Anything contributing to open-source is good! (imo)
- bangmalley, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2all company should give out their hardware specs
- omotayo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2thanks for the site.
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Those names were already taken on GoDaddy.
- cynicist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1make the site prettier?...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I wouldn't normally digg up someone pointing out mistakes, but that one was just too painful.
- arcticblue, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I remember when I put Linux on my first laptop (at the time, a high end gaming rig). I could get about an hour and a half off the battery in Windows and I was thinking that without all the bloat, I should get similar or better battery life in Linux. I was sorely disappointed 45 minutes later when my battery died. It's no better on my Macbook (about an hour and a half versus 3 and a half hours). I really hope this helps to make power management/efficiency much better in Linux.
- purpmint008, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Why have I never seen Intel do anything evil?
- omotayo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Thanks men! We need more people like u in our society.
- TBBucs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It should, but it doesn't sound as cool ; )
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I think Intel has added a very good and useful feature in Linux. This will make Linux a more reliable OS.

- SirZRX, on 10/10/2007, -12/+2i know is power efficiency oriented but can u make it look prettier plz
