- justinjacobs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+59This is probably what happened before that scene:
./configure
checking for bread... ok
checking for meat... ok
checking for lettuce... ok
checking for tomato... ok
checking for mustard... ok
Configure successful! Run 'make' now. - gengisPhat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46If only my wife had a command line interface.
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42Unfortunately, in most countries, if you bash your wife to get her to do what you want you'll get arrested.
- cmw72, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24mount /dev/wife
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12/dev/humour is not mountable.
- r121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I think that's the point ;-)
- dragonlink2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I admit it, I LMAO-ed
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14She probably does. You need to call her on a phone via a modem. Then open up an SSH session...
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10'sudo -i' also works nicely.
Also, sudo is not only in Ubuntu, dammit. - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10./configure --without-mayo
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Windows has a built-in wife interface.

"Windows WIFE interface core component" - SimpleBinary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Dammit...I was really striving for a 'non-geek' day too...thanks alot!

i like the shirt/bumpersticker that says
"there's no place like 127.0.0.1" too - BassJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I couldn't get the link for this to work but one of my favourite geek lines is:
"There are 10 types of people in the world, those who undertand binary and those who don't

http://www.digg.com/tech_deals/Sudo_get_this_t_shirt - cazabam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"there's no place like localhost"? That one always irks me - 127.0.0.1 is not synonymous to 'home'. A better one would be "There's no place like ~"
- kuratkull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This the first article on digg, i actually laughed at :D This is just marvelous :D
- qster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nooo my geek status has been taken down a notch.. I did'nt get it :(
- khilari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1quite a geeky discussion... luv it... justtt luv it...
- whitehornmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I laughed, but I think justinjacobs' comment was funnier
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sudo actually allows users to use their OWN password to do administration tasks (essentially as root) if you've ever created another account, you know you can choose to give it permission to do administrative tasks (well, at least with the gnome user manager its an option, dunno what it is with adduser) and then that person can "sudo " and have every bit as much control as you do, which is dangerous, especially if they manage to get their account comprimised.
Of course, it does have advantages, as long as youi wholly trust that user...
cheers
-Dan - CheeseBurgerMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, this comic is getting creepy.
I've stumbled upon this twice (once a direct link to the image, the second to the page on the site showing it), and now I see it in Digg. - bigtomrodney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No sudo only allows you to use your own password in Ubuntu, because you don't have a root password set. Generlly in linux (or any *nix its ported to) you wil use the root password. The idea of sudo is that it allows you to perform a specific action without logging in as root. Of course the long timeout on sudo in Ubuntu means you generally only have to enter the password once per terminal session. This is not the case in most distros.
- nickmarden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Forget THAT...dig *my* follow-up story:

:P that works for digging my thesis work tonight ;) - rollercoaster37, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I agree. Somebody get a T-Shirt of this made.
- raitchison, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Heh I'm a Windows geek but I still got it
- Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I kinda get, though not really (I use Ubuntu), it's not funny...
What's wrong with sudo? much more conveniant than relogging into a root account, and if I need a bash session with root then sudo -i... so easy. - Robmash, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3me too lmao
- ganlet, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3That never bothered me about ubuntu, I figure you can always just sudo bash
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2sudo digg this cartoon!
- Lycander, on 10/12/2007, -24/+1Reminds in Ubuntu. The root account is disabled so it's "sudo this" and "sudo that."

What is Digg?
