Howtoforge: Quality Linux Tutorials
lxer.com — My first encounter with Howtoforge began with "The Perfect Setup" for Debian Sarge by Falko Timme. I found a site loaded with fundamentally sound and easy to follow setups for Linux administration. This is a location on the WEB that people needing to administer Linux should bookmark. But then there's more.
- 658 diggs
- digg it
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All the distro's I have used (tried) - I've never givin Xandros a try.
I'll try it out. - tadelste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can get the free version and add to Debian repositories to the source.list. Just don't add packages that might break it. :)
- sharkscott, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I knew that Xandros was one of the "original" Linux distro's, now I know why. Because there just happened to be a man in the right place who knew what he was doing, he was just a little ahead of his time. Lucky for me, not too far ahead.
I visited their site for the first time just recently and quickly realized there is a serious amount of information on this site. A clean layout and high quality articles, its a 2fer! - aburd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Is it on the WEB or on the web? I need clarification!!!
- tadelste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's on the World Wide Web. LOL
- solidcube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone remember "How do I shot web?"
- akira117, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I only have the Internet... :( (me sad)
Too bad.... I really wanted to go to the "World Wide Web".
Do I need a patch?!
What does "WEB" Stand for?
I don't want and bugs in may computer...... - bubba9999, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0
God I hate people who post blogs here. I wish all of my lost packets would gang up and shock the bejsus out of you through the keyboard. - FelixdaaHack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I agree bubba...don't advertise useful "Linux Tutorials" and then have all of digg goto some crap blog
actual link: http://www.howtoforge.com/ - tadelste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well first of all bubba and felix, it ain't no blog. But then when a person says "God I hate people"... what kind of model of reality do you have anyway? Why do I feed the trolls anyway?
- solidcube, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That's not the point.
The point is that posting a link to a link, with your site as the middleman, is a form of spam.
It wastes our time.
Why not post something good on your OWN site and then get that posted here? Probably much more effective than just pissing people off. - tadelste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You are a solid cube.
Our editors post original material on our site. In fact, this wasn't even a referral. I don't put referrals on LXer for the same reason you're complaining. I did a review and that's original content. If you don't want to read a review don't.
In fact, for people who display our syndicated news feeds, we don't have them come to our site, they go directly to the articles. Look at Linuxhomepage.com. Click on a news story and it goes directly to the story, not to our site unless its our material.
Besides, this is my site too. My member overall ranking: 217. What's yours. - DiggMyOwnGrave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stop bashing people for linking to blogs/articles. They guy wrote up a nice review of the site. He didn't just post a link to a link, he posted a link to information that he created about a website. Besides that, the opportunity to get an audience is a good motivator to create real FREE content and to post a link to content on FREE sites such as Digg. People usually do things out of motivation. Do you want to kill part of the motivation for posting good links to good information just because it takes 2 extra seconds of your valuable life as you use this completely FREE resource? What about all of the accumulating seconds of my life being wasted as I read the complaints about links to blog entries? If real people are legitimately pushing a story to the front page, and you are choosing to read it, its NOT spam.
