- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks alot! I am in need of this type of setup.

Actually, it's only barely on-disk. Data is stored on the disk, but any indexed column is stored in memory. So, heavily indexed or large tables will still have problems with memory limitations. - ericpp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would think so...
The setups I've heard about use only the master for writing and the master/slaves for reading.
You can also use multiple masters, but it gets very tricky to resync them if they become out of sync.
The MySQL Replication FAQ actually does a decent job discussing this:

- fkuall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this should be required reading for everybody using a computer
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg +++
see in how almost every server should have this very good digg! - ericpp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think Digg is using a MySQL replication setup. Kevin talked on twit.tv about how digg's slave servers were becoming out of sync with the master server and showing negative diggs.
- seweso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A replication setup is reading from multiple servers and writing to only one...right?
- seweso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We had someone over from Getronics PinkRoccade which told us that a Mysql cluster does not need to have every database in memory. Strange. Is it possible to run multiple mysql databases on a cluster without running out of memory? What cheap alternative is there?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ack.. I'll stick with clustering with windows advanced..
- jay42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Woops, misdugg....- 1 Digg
- creepah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Thanks for the news :)
