I have actually being doing something rather similar albeit without Jinzora. I don't like things living in a browser so I installed mt-daapd (now known as firefly) which allows any copy of itunes in the house to see the server as a share. Then to access it from work. I set up a ssh tunnel.
I doubt its as easy as Jinzora but I feel the results are better for me. All the details of that are over on this digglet

Also, I like how his site's "resume" link points to a page with just the text "***** goes here". Seems like not a great idea when your article hits the front page. - Pow3rbook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Down.

He doesn't even know why the mysql needs to be started manually. Great tutorial indeed, duggin down - andrewmp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Yeah this article is pretty weak, it doesn't take into account properly securing the box. A weak password and an open port 22 and your box is pwned!
- Fryth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I prefer kPlaylist (kplaylist.net) to Jinzora. Jinzora looks great, and is perfectly useful, but a bit slow for my taste. kPlaylist seems to be more oriented toward power users.
- kitwaites, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Excellent tutorials, especially for a beginner. Screenshots from Jinzora's website: -

I believe that it already has built in functionality to allow streaming on the web - you can check their forums for full instructions. - ReallyDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2gnuMP3d is much less bloated and achieves the same goal.

:) - noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I must go poke my eyes out now.
- sjug, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Good followup article.
How about one on a linux/ubuntu htpc? - madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jinzora rocks! http://www.jinzora.org/
Finally some decent music wherever :p - phiw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone else notice that this guy has installed his own RFID chip in his hand?

By the way, you *could* just turn your music folder into an SMB and NFS share and then mount it from any computer on your network like I did (Did you know that windows could mount SMB shares as letter drives?). It streams perfectly to every computer in the house. - Pow3rbook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It seems to be back up... If it goes down again just use the links I provided.

"35 Diggs and 2 comments?
Yet, this story makes the front page this quickly?
There are lots of "upcoming" stories with more Diggs and comments, yet they aren't here.
The Digg system broken or corrupt."
Now notice how I mention how the _number_ of diggs/comments need not matter if the difference in time between them is not high. Also, notice the reference to friends' diggs not counting as much toward front-paging. nsmike's link says that the 'velocity of diggs' count (not saying how much, if it were weighted much more than number of diggs then...you do the rest)
The conclusion you made is a non-sequitur even if your third line is true, as that howstuffworks page that you so proudly support says.
PS: I meant 15 minutes in my previous comment. Not "15 hour" :) - arjie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3diggrific: Suppose, just suppose, the algorithm for front-paging included 'how fast' the story was dugg? Suppose that diggs from friends don't count as much toward home-paging? Come on man, think, the number of diggs and the number of comments need not be the only criteria.
In addition, calling anyone who disagrees with you immature is really quite silly. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3@diggriffic -
http://www.howstuffworks.com/digg.htm - halohunter, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8Its got the word "Ubuntu" in it. For some reason digg users are fanatical about Ubuntu.
Speaking of which, I'm using Ubuntu right now and eagerly awaiting Fiesty. - idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2They care about him more than you
- arjie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1What does the time stamp prove? Nothing. Suppose the story lay dormant for 18 hours and had a flurry of activity in the last 15 hour before it went popular? "Who dugg or blogged it?" doesn't show the time they dugg or blogged it, so I can't prove that. But it seems reasonable. Honestly though, I don't know what the algorithm is, and speculation is pointless. Considering it's worked so well, so far (for me atleast) you'd think they'd got something right.
Ooh, temper temper. Your statement was false, atleast in this category (most popular was at 19 diggs, you claimed 35 at the time of your comment), or did you redefine 100%? - arcterex, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2@diggrific - yea, stupid article (sorry poster) without a heck of a lot of content in it.
- fatejudger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I Jinzorad in my pants after I saw this awesome article.
