- voodooVince, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've been using VOCP for my answering machine on slackware -
http://vocp.sourceforge.net
It also does faxes. and uses a regular voice modem, no need to get an FXO card (whatever that is) off ebay for asterisk. - ryguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0solution being PBX (see above post)
- scbysnx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its not news to most but its news to some.. I digged it more people using asterisk is always better
- NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here I was expecting something good, I want advanced firewall permit/deny settings based of caller ID, phone number, time of day, day of the week, personal status's (do not disturb, napping, playing video games, etc)
- ryguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A quick write up on Asterisk@Home which is a "out of the box" solution using asterisk:
http://ryanbryce.com/index.php/2005/09/02/asteriskhome/ - alexander000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't like the quality and functionality of my crappy $20 answering machine.
I always thought there should be a simple answering machine program out there. A low resource program that would log all your calls, record all your conversations and customized rings via caller ID. Too bad this isn't it. Sometimes I wish I were a programmer. - turokthemighhty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now you can send your voicemail to RSS reader using this new FREE Asterisk plugin.

Enjoy - waz67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used to have a pretty cool computer-based answering machine in the form of the Microsoft Cordless Phone. Worked great until MS dropped it like a hot rock without adding support for anything beyond Win98.
- caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If he wants an answering machine, There is crap that comes with just about every modem that you buy. Asterisk is much more than that.
- scbysnx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0you are honestly making an answering machine out of asterisk?.. just an answering machine?
- revokin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1We've been running Asterisk at work for awhile now. We also have sold a couple systems and all of them have been running fine. It will do just about anything you need.
