- anteyekon4myst, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Sh*t ...i got all excited trying to go around the world in one wrist flip...made it to New Dehli from San Fran and the damn strap broke...sent my Wii right through Singapore
- chipsdeluxe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16This is my video, so let me put some of the dispute to rest.
@JoshHendo: I actually didn't use the IR function of the Wiimote for this demo, just the accelerometers and buttons.
@Crass22: The last two versions of GlovePIE do support IR, and vkpadia has a very nice script for controlling the mouse via IR. You can get to it through LiquidIce's blog at http://wiihacks.blogspot.com/
@stuartjmoore: I didn't use IR in this demo because I didn't take the time to add it to my script. In the next version, I hope to add IR support so you can navigate by clicking and dragging, and by tilting. - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hold trigger and swing vigorously to cast lightning bolts down on the mortals.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13Because the PC drivers for the wii-mote are still very primative and they havent figured out IR control or the Nunchuck. Right now theyve basically figured out accelerometer input, button input, and mii transfers onto PC. The Wii is still relatively new and we're still trying to figure it out.
If your interested you really should look it up, check out http://www.wiili.org/ - stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9why not use the IR sensor?
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This isn't all that impressive, I was hoping to see acceleration in each direction based on how far you were tilting it. Right now it's just duplicating key presses when it hits a certain threshold of tilt.
I mean, yeah, it works, but it looks as if you could take the same driver and assign it to do anything that has a keyboard shortcut. - pHr34kY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, the threshold-based physics makes it look kind of tacky. The wiimote is surely capable of it, but I'm not sure if google earth can digital proportional input (I haven't looked at the API he's using).
Still impressed nonetheless. - p0ss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it seems unintuitive, surely the sideways rotations of the earth should be triggered by a sideways motion on the remote, instead of a roll as is shown. the roll should make the earth roll. I understand its probable a google limitation, still looks wierd tho..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4nice
- subzeroash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3i wish someone would do something like this for the sudden motion sensor in my macbook
- juraj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, I use that background too, as seen in video. Too bad I'm using linux, and the guy is using windows.

Added to my Top Ten Wii Hacks list here:
http://www.tenspotting.com/ts/lists/256/system - SLIPSTR3AM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2pretty snazzy. I hope to see what more can be done. This reminds me, I need to pick up my own Wiimote sometime. That is of course if I can find one in stock.
- RoboticsTime, on 10/13/2008, -0/+0Hi, I use the Wiimote to control an industrial robot (MOTOMAN HP6).

Thanks - kingofthegreens, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is great if you can plot out points on a map and use the wii-mote to switch between windows...thinking of something for my next presentation :-)
- RobertMTL, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0There is not instruction on how the script should be run and what are the steps to follow.
Would be great that more instruction could be added for newbie like me.
BTW, if it works, it is great.
TX - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5@JoshHendo: Did you even watch the video, or even read my comment above yours, or even know about GlovePIE, the driver he used to operate the wii-mote? Theres no IR sensor bar, he only tilts the wii-mote and uses buttons.
- walkingcrow, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1IR works great with the newest PIE in widows, just direct x games is were is gets all funky
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Google Earth is (still) proprietary. There is some impressive stuff over at Gaia and World Wind, which are F/OSS.

Version 1.4 still only runs Wiindows (sic), but 1.5 will work on OS X and GNU/Linux. It's dotnot-based. - jamessavik, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3ACk! I'm so sick of game system stories. Go play with your wii and go blind!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Would only be cool for the first 10 minutes
Edit: Or Less... - zuluhed, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1WIINERPIINIS
- JoshHendo, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2@stuartjmoore: Did you even watch the video? It does use the IR sensor.
