- Plotinus, on 08/04/2008, -0/+29Use OpenDNS servers. We had DNS issues this weekend at a festival where we provide an internet cafe. This information would have made us much more cautious.
- neopherine, on 08/04/2008, -0/+10Just today washington post wrote an article about Apple Servers Still Vulnerable to DNS Threats:

The sooner everyone uses the patches the better. - jedisushi, on 08/04/2008, -0/+8Thanks for sharing. I just put reconfigured my home network to use OpenDNS.

You are same guy who thinks makeuseof.com pays people to digg. and everyone steals your website contents. hahaha - zarcu, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Comcast seems fine to me. I ran the test with no problems.
- thegreypilgrim, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4In addition to the test on Dan Kaminsky's blog at,
http://www.doxpara.com/
The following test is also worth running, esp since you get some nice scatter graphs in the results where you may be able to pick up patterns (that would be BAD),

(plugged on episode 155 of the Security Now podcast) - inactive, on 08/05/2008, -1/+3I can't imagine needing OpenDNS. It sounds neat for shared public workstations, but my own DNS servers are more than sufficient for my needs and I don't need an additional layer of corporate logging of my DNS requests. I especially don't want or need anyone tampering with my dig results. If a record is not there, I don't want them to spoof one. We have already been through this once with people screwing with the root servers. I would prefer people keep it simple.
- Corte, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2A first.
- Viper244, on 08/05/2008, -1/+3Interesting how this didn't make it to the front page of Digg. /sarcasm
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2I think it did.
- Fergy, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2I just put reconfigured not my thought understand.
- xNIBx, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I never had problems with google and opendns.
- Flowpoke, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1how about you stop being lame and use djbdns (TinyDNS) http://cr.yp.to/djbdns.html
- MarkKezner, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1I've used openDNS exclusively for 6 months now and never had this problem. You seem to be the kind of person that likes to screw around with your computer alot. Are you sure something else you're doing isn't causing this problem?
For example, are you operating as a tor exit node? That can make Google CAPTCHA you every now and again. - ssavoy, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I've been using them for about a year with no complaints! Just on my own home network I'm able to see all the advertising content that gets filtered out. It can even act as a small base level of security for your network.

DAMN YOU XEROX! DAMN YOU TO INTERNET STARDOM! - grumpyrain, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2Why should that surprise anyone? Apple's idea of security is making ads about how annoying UAC is. They have never treated security flaws with the same degree of urgency that their competitors manage to conjure up. Just look at secunia, CVE or any other tracker for that matter to see how long it takes for patches to arrive.
- zarcu, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1I normally don't have problems with them. I am aware with the problems others have had. But I just don't use torrents, I don't use P2P.
Rapidshare FTW! - megamod, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1777 is outside of an IP range...the octets in the IP address are only 8 bits long which means it can only go up to 255...you n00b
- venkat23, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1see this sucker joined with different name to comment for this to hide his diggs http://digg.com/users/balleballe
- Thekirby45, on 08/05/2008, -2/+1Your ISP's name server, 13.37.133.777, has other protections above and beyond port randomization against the recently discovered DNS flaws. There is no reason to be concerned about the results seen below.
- venkat23, on 08/05/2008, -2/+1you seems to be the exact bitch now, ***** you not like you giving for for people sending mails to everyone for digging your content i have a proof of your mail sent to digg your content so don't enter in middle and suck others comments
- kevman459, on 08/05/2008, -3/+2I'm sorry but OpenDNS isn't all that great. When using Google I had to enter a CAPTCHA for like 1 out of every 5 searches because Google said I looked like a bot. After downloading some packet sniffing software I found out the OpenDNS was spying on the packets, probably for marketing research. Not a huge deal, as I'm sure it's in the TOS but completely fuxxoring my google searches was enough of a pain for me to drop it.
- habbofresh, on 08/05/2008, -6/+2I still love how the whois database will list all servers that match the domain..... sure it's no hole... but entertaining for some...
