- wildfire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I can only hope. As there's still no MIMO support in MadWiFi because of the lock-outs by Atheros. (Deferred until 1.0.0+)

Intel has done the same as well. As it was impossible to set cards into monitor mode until IPW2200.
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/ - schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11They were free to work on it before, but now there won't be FUD. This is similar to another disturbing story:
"After a long and arduous journey that included a suspended validation last
year .. OpenSSL has regained its FIPS 140-2 validation"
"We called it the FUD campaign," he says. "There were all kinds of
complaints sent to the CMVP including one about 'Commie code.' .. Silly or
no, each complaint that's filed really slows down the process."
"the ones they did see often contained redacted, or blacked-out, data about
who had filed the complaint .. in some cases, proprietary software vendors
were lodging the complaints.

- motang, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Sweet, I sure hope this would also be the case with Broadcom wireless cards.
- DarkDragon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wonder how long we are talking here, next week, next month, or next year? I hope to god it is soon =]
- db113456, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well it is a good news, Atheros chips where one of the few ship sets that did work with Linux in the past, I will correctly assume that the full availability of the code is only going to improve the situation. Also would care to mention that the GPL Donated code from Devicescape regarding many wifi devices is finally in the kernel (By Default). This also influences the structure and workings of ndiswrapper ...
- OCme, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1at last maybe someday the AR500XEG will be support....
- fluxion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1sweet! i got a thinkpad on the way with the atheros wifi card. hopefully plenty of talented developers take the initiative on this one.

It would be nice if there were drivers for Windows XP 64-bit for the AR5008/AR5418.
