- DigitalJester, on 10/11/2007, -2/+92So very, very cheesy
- renegadeafk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+86LMAO at the guy stroking the penguin near the end.
- jellystones, on 10/11/2007, -4/+72I logged in just to digg this story up, "Fawn Feistyliciousopensourceroni" LOL!!
- schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35Dude, calm down. It's just humour.
I'm sure that these stereotypes aren't as damaging as they are entertaining. Dell knows (or should know) that many Linux customers are some of the more professional/informed people, not just 'geeks'. That's why they start selling Linux to businesses as well.
Don't bite the hand of the man who opened the floodgates to wider acceptance of GNU/Linux in the OEM channel. - inigomntoya, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27Direct Link -

- Gatesophile, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21I liked it because it was SO cheesy that it passed the "unbearable" mark into "unbearably awesome". I mean come on, who DOESN'T want the name Fawn Feistyliciousopensourceroni?
- amoore260, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22This so not cool.>>> This is a much better Linux/OSS promotion for Dell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfkucaGv0oA
- beckerist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Digg should allow users to submit 2 links per story, the direct link and the link to the blog they are trying to advertise.
- chilekillr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19PUN OVERLOAD!!!
- jman8888, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17My dad. Set it up for him though
- pcharles23, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22i like it .. it made me laugh that has to be good!
- weizbox, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Wow... that one guy stroking the penguin with a masked voice was a lil weird...
*takes off penguin costume* - inigomntoya, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Yeah - they were trying a little TOO hard on that one...
"Just how pervasive IS the Linux culture at Dell?" - how many times do they have to repeat that? - Miche1987, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Now prepare for an onslaught of teenage(?) boy geeks to throng around you and pathetically try to hit on you...
Believe me, I'm trying to restrain myself. ;p - schestowitz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I've seen other comment from deenine, so I suspect there's no sarcasm here.
- xtmno3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Boy geeks know no age. We all act like children when you get us excited.
- TuxNuts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Cheese goes good with Wine.
- Gatesophile, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Hi. I am a teenage girl using Linux. I also have a friend, who is also a teenage girl, who uses Linux as well. She got me into it. (well, I use Windows too, hence the username. Hey, Bill Gates is pretty cool...)
And, we are both geeks/nerds. :) - cbreaker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Bah, I thought it was funny. I especially liked the guy at the end in the dark with the voice changer.
- Gatesophile, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Meh, I'm used to it. Trust me, I get LOTS of random IMs from diggers. All male.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Actually, in my freshman comp sci class there was in fact a teenage girl who loved to talk about how she was rocking it. Of course she was the only girl of 50+, and I wasn't even sure she was in fact a girl for about a week.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Some people can even digg your profile, I can even imagine the title: OH MY GOSH!!!11 A GIRL THAT HAVE LINUX INSTALLED ON HER MACHINE!!!
- TuxNuts, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I totally know what you mean. I hate Windows because it can't run my Linux applications.
- Miche1987, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I'm sure you've heard some pretty horrible pickup lines...like in the vein of this video:
"Hi there, heard you like Linux...would you like to play with mine?" - iJump, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4YOU+I HEAD A SPLODE!
- jman8888, on 10/11/2007, -9/+12Wow. So they think all linux people are nerds?
Also way to many Puns. ITS GNUSOME! - abood, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5quite a crappy news channel actually
she was so obviously reading off the sheet...plus they misspelled 'feisty' - cbreaker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It wasn't THAT cheezy; it was silly but it also had real information about Dell's Linux venture. I thought it was put together well.
- jman8888, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This was kinda funny though
- lukeydukey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Only thing I'm sad about that video is that he mentioned Paris Hilton at the end.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Damn straight we're nerds.
- vuke69, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"...I wasn't even sure she was in fact a girl for about a week."
For those awkward moments, there's always the Crocodile Dundee test. - cbreaker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It wasn't that desperate. I don't know why you'd think so. They put together a funny little video that nobody else has done, so what? It was funny; there's a lot of little things to notice, like the tuxedos some people were wearing and such.
- Gerz1219, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4I don't know what's more depressing, the idea that someone would find this funny, or the fact that I got most of the references.
- reparsed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Full of cheesy goodness!
- jordan314, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3the rhythm was SO slow
- tnoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It was a tuxedo reference.
- Gerz1219, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well, if I was a real geek, I'd own a TV, but brag about canceling my cable subscription and relying only on BitTorrent.
- vuke69, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Plan9 is still safe(-ish)
- tilleyrw, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Good Job Dell!
It's not the same as Savannah Samson enjoying an orgasm with a Windows XPlicit ViBrAtor (XP VBA -- Get it? I knew you would.) but it's a step in the right direction for Dell and Linux. - pete83, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1wow, that song was OMG AMAZING!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1 Yeah, they should have left that out...Not even poking fun at that over priced dork is funny...
I did enjoy the vid,and I got all the references as well. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1 Well,if it does not work for you,try a different flavor of Linux.
So far I've tried,Linspire,Freespire,PCLinux and Mint...
Got my eye set on Klikit Linux next. - msgmsg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's worrisome isn't it
- atlantia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1... and it gets a little closer everyday ...
Remember - you saw it here first
. Dellinux ( De in blue - ll in green --inux in yellow )
. We share - fremeer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1just use wine and set it up so that they appear as their own programs with no need for a desktop(like parallels for mac) im pretty sure their was tute somewhere. their now u never have to use windows again since wine can open IE pretty well as well as some other MS friendly stuff
- msgmsg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not worry about whatever clique an OS falls into and use whatever works for you?
- rolosworld, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1making linux desktop in a couple of months and doing this video appealing (in many ways, the cloths as you say, the penguin walk, names..etc) to the community in such short time... thats why I said it... its just what I thought then, but not now. So I retract. Its quite a good move (everyone wins and the video is quite funny). Their making an excellent job marketing their offerings and this is what matters. I do like what their offering.
- FIip, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1LOL at the guy at 1:04.
