- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Anmol shouldn't be dugg down. Compiz fusion brings a hell of a lot more to the table than Aero or Quartz. Neither Visa nor Leopard have anything on Compiz Fusion. Both Beryl and Compiz (prior to the merge) have been able to do thing that blow both Vista and Leopard out of the water. Combine that with Avant Window Navigator and Leopard doesn't stand a chance. It's a real testament to the capability of the Linux and open source communities. It's amazing that hobbyists and volunteers can do the same and more that paid employees of MS and Apple do.

More like Compiz Fusion + XGL or AIGLX. Even then, hard to compare. Most of what makes Compiz great is customization and features. Quartz is better under the hood.
The fact is, OpenGL is nice. Its really at the root of all of this fun. Linux is an operating system (just like Windows is and operating system) that runs on pretty much any computer hardware out there. Saying it's for the PC is a bit of a misnomer, simply because the term 'PC' is becoming obsolete. A computer used by a single person is inherently personal, but both Windows and Linux can run in multi-user modes and serve purposes beyond the daily computing needs of the individual. If you consider a PC to be the entire computing experience, from the hardware to the software to the end-user experience, then yes, Linux is for the PC. If you consider the PC to just be the hardware, Linux is still for the PC.
Long story short, yes, Linux is for the PC.
As a side note, you might want to read up on what an operating system is and what it does. Wikipedia has an excellent article. - redzion, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6No screenshot section....yet.

It's up to them to fix their own errors - it is common practice to at least check your site in a validator before putting it live. They seem to be on the ball when it comes to coding, but like most FOSS projects, presentation is practically an afterthought and as a result it looks and works like crap. - antitab, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Look, I'm an amateur web designer.
