- BOFH139, on 01/11/2008, -0/+15This is the update version for CentOS 5.1
http://www.howtoforge.com/centos-5.1-server-lamp-e ... - sputnike, on 01/11/2008, -0/+6Yes this is an old article, and maybe Cent OS 4.6 is out dated, but it's very helpful for users who wish to get into hosting their own websites, or just want to play around with it, and learn how to use the newest things as they go along... I mean yes Visual Basic 6 is old, but colleges still teach it because it's a basic programming language that allows you to get into the mindframe of Programming. Personally I dugg it up, but that's just me.

- dodger2020, on 01/11/2008, -2/+6I wonder why they're still using 4.6 when Centos 5.1 came out in December.
- cgreentx, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4I believe you missed the point of ISPConfig. It's for building a shared hosting box where everything ties back to the single management interface. The packages chosen are ones that can be easily integrated with that setup by back-ending to mysql or using includes in config files. I don't see why anyone would do this for one site for themselves. I use ISPConfig on several shared hosting boxes. Without quotas I imagine I would get run over on disk space.
- breakaway, on 01/11/2008, -0/+4How are you gonna compile ***** then?
- ronin691, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Can the Zen abstraction layer be added to that recipe?
- ShyGuy91284, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1So.... It's now a LAMPEDFI... server ?
- ThePerp, on 01/11/2008, -0/+0Wow...haven't visited howtoforge in a while...you have to PAY to get the print friendly versions? In the immortal words of Phil Ken Sebben:
HA HA....stick it. - spudlyo, on 01/11/2008, -3/+1The author and I have apparently have different ideas of what makes the "perfect server". I'd take tinydns instead of Bind, qmail instead of Postfix, Courier IMAP instead of Dovecot, awstats instead of Webalizer, and SFTP instead of proftpd. How about xcache for PHP?
This guy also did a tutorial for CentOS 5.1 and MySQL 5.0. Interesting that he installed disk quotas, seems like you wouldn't need that on your own machine. - venkat23, on 01/11/2008, -7/+3this is very old article how many time they will send to front page digg id really scam man
- ha1f, on 01/11/2008, -7/+2Wow, an actual useful Linux article.
- Calculon, on 01/11/2008, -8/+3The site looks great, i bookmarked it
- TheNastyBoy, on 01/11/2008, -6/+0Buried because the howto uses "Development Tools" packages. Installing this kind of software on a server, is to my mind, a very bad thing.
- joesmeat, on 01/11/2008, -7/+0Does this work on Ubuntu? I though Ubuntu was the only Linux?
- CrashinDutchman, on 01/11/2008, -9/+0Does something similar for Windows Server 2003 exist?
- okkebal, on 01/11/2008, -26/+2Check the censored news
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Media_Struggles_ ... - okkebal, on 01/11/2008, -27/+3The real news is about Ron Paul. Its being censored. Thats why this is on the main page with 35 diggs. And the story below had over 300 diggs but is not on the Front Page:
