- wallclimber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4WickedDragOoN, why not have specialized Ubuntu versions? That's the greatest thing about Linux is that it can be customized. Besides, I remember an Oprah show a while back where she was mighty chummy with Bill Gates. I think it would be great to see her support a non-MS system.
I think people are finally starting to understand that there is joy in having choices.
I don't care if someone comes out with n Ubuntu version that caters to 12 year old girls (pink ponies and Barbie), I think everyone should have the software that's exactly what they want. It's time to take a leap off the Microsoft treadmill. We are not all alike, and our computers shouldn't all be alike either.
If we can just get file formats standardized so everyone can communicate with everyone else, no matter what software they use, then the world will be a better place. - sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait, wha? What's racist about it? You mean we're NOT getting our own Ubuntu distro?
- WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6DO WE REALLY NEED THIS? i swear to god... what exactly makes it different from ubuntuu? ebonic titled icons? My Computer = My Compizzy
Seriously?
*In the next update they will include wallpapers of big black girl asses*

Why doesn't he do endorsements anymore? Or is he starting up again with this? - MidasShrugged, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1digg effect.

- sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well said wallclimber! Given the fact that we have, as you say, pink linux for 12 year olds, anyone who gets all upity over there being a black man's linux is strictly a racist. What's up with that? A little girl can have yellow flower icons and a barbie wallpaper, but when a black man wants a hip-hop riff for his startup sound and some big-booty on his desktop all of the sudden he's got to go to the back of the linux bus?
- sporktek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hehe, that's great.
- GMorgan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes but that can be achieved by theming. I agree that freedom is the key with Linux but why would you fork an entire OS just to add some bling. Just setup a theme with a few scripts and bobs your uncle Ubuntu becomes Bubuntu. I think this is a joke anyway.
- starquake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"Download Windows Defender Beta 2 This free program works with Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 to help prevent spyware from sneaking onto your computer in common ways, such as part of a larger software download."
Why not make IE better so it doesn't need that? Same goes for Microsoft Antispiware/antivirus. - mlmurray, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This has got to be a joke (link dead already).
- 1driht, on 08/20/2008, -0/+0Why don't all of you do a little research before freaking out-- damn, this must be how mass hysteria starts.
Bubuntu is NOT an official version of Ubuntu, it's NOT officially supported, it's NOT even a fork, but a flavor (only very minor changes were made) and when it was mentioned on the Ubuntu forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=536964%29 ...the creator said nothing along the lines of it being geared towards African Americans, and quite a few posters thought it was a complete waste of time, seeing as there were so few changes made to the distro. Most people just considered it to be one person's personal flavor of Ubuntu being offered for others to download-- and actually wondered why that user even took the time to do it seeing as it had so few changes that it really wasn't any different than just installing Ubuntu itself. If you take a look at the homepage, race isn't even mentioned: http://www.Bubuntu.net (the site is in French, so if you are not a French-speaker, just Google "Bubuntu" and click on the translate option). When the question of what the "B" in the name meant, the creator didn't answer, but seeing as it was created by a French-speaker, the "B" might not mean black or even African American at all.
Next time, you people might want to consider having a conscious thought before freaking out and making something so seemingly benign into a race issue-- this seriously makes me wonder what else you people might believe without any question or consideration!! - jahriichie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0stop being such a niggerz, this ***** is funny.
- satempler, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2this isn't real. it's just some one thinking they are funny. Another note Mark Shuttleworth is white. and so is most of the devs. but just because "Africa" is where its from it's assumed to be for blacks. This is racist
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Lame, the site isn't even up!
