- FairDinkumMate, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3This process obviously needs some serious review. Brazil as a country is VERY supportive of Open Source Software & for good reason. Linux will be THE OS of choice in Brazil within 5 years!
The Government is rolling it out to schools and the computer infrastructure in Brazil is VERY old compared to developed nations. Tax on computers is 60% making them very expensive, so people tend to hang on to older machines for longer & even the majority of new machines sold here are underpowered compared to average machines in the US or Europe. This makes Vista a virtual non-starter here as the cost of a machine suitable for running it is upwards of US$1,500(BRL$3,000)
