- WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Aw man, ..... just forget it.... just delete my digg account and ban me from the interwebs.

However I would much rather there also be an installer script to set this up on a usb drive in a linux enviroment (granted the damn thing runs linux), instead of using .NET in Windows.
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4First one that comes to mind, http://www.puppyos.com/ right on the front page:
"Booting from CD, Puppy can save everything back to the CD, no need for a hard drive."
This feature has existed about as long as multi session CD burning:

Edit: At least you caught your mistake :) - z00k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hrm... I still and always will think that Puppy Linux is the best Distribution when it comes to "USB Friendly"... Same with SLAX.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Just the truth. - WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@trogdoor
A large amount of Linux LiveCDs let you save to another session on the CD? The same CD that you booted with? Please show me a link to an ISO that lets me do that.
A large amount of LiveCDs allow you to save configuration to *SOME OTHER WRITABLE* media; not a CD.... and definitely not the same CD you booted up with. - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Could you possibly provide links to installs or guides for Puppy and SLAX on USB drives? I'm sure everybody would appreciate it, I know I would...
I know that PLENTY of distros work on USB sticks (have used a couple), but looking at sheer ease of installation, PCLinuxOS MiniMe is the best I've seen so far... - webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2all people are the same with a diff name and a few features, none, are really that different
- bombboyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That sounds like a virus filename if I've ever read one :)
It is a cool distro though, very handy, though they may consider changing that name... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2all linux distros are the same with a diff name and a few features, none, are really that different
- n00bst3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So my biggest question is can you install and run programs or is this just another form of LiveCD
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MySLAX Creator is the same way. It has a windows GUI to get a custom SLAX install on a flash drive. Their site is down ATM though.
Personally i prefer SLAX to pclos. slax lets you just drag and drop modules into the right directory and then those modules(apps, drivers, etc.) are just installed automatically. It is very easy to customize and you dont end up with a distro that has a ton of stuff you dont use filling up your flash drive. - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for pointing that out drizek.

- actually Puppy was the first major Linux to do this, few do. It works best with a DVD
http://www.puppyos.com/multi-puppy.htm
Basically when Puppy first boots and saves it asks if you want to keep the ISO CD "open" to save and save again
Otherwise it saves to hard drive (including XP's NTFS) or USB in just two files)
Here is my "Puppy Luv" site for more Puppy proper-gander

PCLinuxOS looks luvvly (no doubt) Puppy is luvvly to use . . . so fast - runs in ram - vexter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a nice, straight forward path too a bootable USB stick. Ive been reading up on booting some sort of OS from my 1 gig stick, and this is the most promising, time friendly option yet.. Ill test it after work..
- dinakarrao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Slax is better for its modules and fits even on 256MB USB flash.
- nerd05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oddly enough, I downloaded it and it wouldn't run. Anyone else have the same problem?
The error I got was that the MakeBoot program couldn't initialize. - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's about time! I love the penguin but rarely does he seem to be extremely USB friendly. I hope we start to see more distros make it so easy...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I am going to try and put it on my ipod.. that would be nice and fast i believe
- Visible, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bad this is just MiniMe. BigDaddy would just need a bigger 1GB stick and then you don't need to download much.
- kunduZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah, its a col distro, i have it control my hardware on both my dektop and laptop ( and run everything else on vmplayer) ..
i agree about the name, there is a poll in pclinuxos.com forum about the name ..its very unlikely it will be changed though .. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I getting tired of "puppy pussy linux" lame distros and friends. Are u man enough, install netbsd or openvms to a pendrive and D @ I @ G @ G that!
Maybe I won't sleep on it. -_- - trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Almost all LiveCDs let you install and run software, a large amount of those let you save your changes to another session on the CD, and yes, this USB system allows you to install software and save applications to the thumb drive :)
