I'd say all that investment by Microsoft and Intel to launch Origami aka UMPC has made the field more fertile for Nokia's handy little webpad. It needs more apps, though, for it to catch on in a big way with consumers. A lot of it just involves porting GTK-ready applications to another system with some different specs. I still wait for good Maemo PIM before I replace Palm with Nokia. The existing ones are not mature, according to what I read.
