- clearzen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Does anyone know of a good encryption program for voip?
- schestowitz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Seems like a very crowded scene. So few of these products/projects actually reach the limelight.
- ubuwalker31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So, can anyone explain how Joe Ordinary User can connect a phone to his computer, using OSS programs, and make free VOIP calls to land lines?
- cybertrip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4We use asterisk at our office and the software is simply sweet. We actually use Trixbox which uses centOS but still its super easy to set up and works amazing and cost a fraction of what a proprietary system would have cost.
- ggidster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3zRTP works very well, but only can be use with Softphones (needs to be running on the PC running the softphone/client). It's by Phil Zimmerman (who did PGP). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZRTP

- dukeinlondon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice list but which one of these should I use to make reliable video calls to XP users ?
- FreydNot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ubuwalker31: Nerd Vittles has several excellent guides for setting up an asterisk server, connecting a standard telephone, and connecting to the PSTN via "free" sip carriers. Of course there is no free lunch, but this is about as close as it gets. You will need to supply a PC and buy a telephone interface (SPA-1001 can be found around $60). The "free" carriers will require you to put $10 or so into the account.
